I was just about to post the same recall info Bam! My work got the info this morning, I wasn't there so I looked up the details online..I think so far they've been handling the issue well...we will see. I currently feed the Wellness dog dry & occasionally canned, so I will be following this closely!

So nice to see another in shape lab! Sadly, they seem to be a rarity nowadays...

Echo is 7 yrs old & weighs approx 55 lbs. He gets about a cup & a half of kibble a day (Wellness or GO usually) with a treat or two at bedtime or during training sessions(usually Benny Bullies or other high protein type treats)

As for exercise, due to back/stomach problems he hasn't been able to do much the past year or so. When he was younger we went for a run every morning & had agility/disc/flyball/etc.. classes 6 nights a week...he was one super high drive, high energy pup- our trainers used to refer to him as a border collie in lab clothing! So all that exercise certainly helped him stay lean, as well as food portioning-being a typical labbie, Echo would eat till he literally exploded, lol.

Because of his recent health issues we've had to take things pretty slow, with a lot of low impact conditioning, swimming, etc..he gained a little weight over the winter, but is back to his normal healthy weight & looking good.

"The fact is corn contains high quality protein, complex carbohydrates, essential fatty acids, and fiber... Whole corn has a high level of digestibility and is a carbohydrate source as are corn flour and corn starch."

Ugh. Sad...even sadder is people believing this stuff. Like my mother, for example. According to her corn is a quality protein source & dogs were NOT meant to eat grain free foods. End of story. No reasoning with her..naughty Soo frustrating, especially considering their shih tzu mix has horrendous tear stains all over her face, feet & legs, fatty lumps all over her, icky coat & next to no energy. Yeah, tell me she's thriving on her corn filled kibble confused

I've just started using canned food as a topper for Echo's breakfast...with all his allergies, we generally stick with Wellness chicken & sweet potato or senior formula, GO Natural chicken & veggie & most recently Weruva chicken soup with pumpkin flavor.

Interesting thread!

Echo- weighs 54 lbs

He gets GO chicken & veggie kibble. 25 lb bags usually lasts between 4-6 wks. Now that he's back up to a healthy weight, he gets fed less so it lasts a bit longer. I get a dsiscount at work thank goodness, so it costs me around $60 a bag (taxes included) As far as suppliments go, I just recently started giving him glucosamine/chondroitin treats, they run about $20 every three weeks. Other treats added in, probably $10 a month...soooo...grand total probably around $80 a month.

Does Montana know how to target things? I taught Echo the head down trick by first getting him to target a bottle cap with his chin, then slowly fading out the target/adding in the cue...I think I learned that method of teaching 'Head Down' on a Youtube video..I will see if I can dig it up for ya...big grin
