So once in awhile Hazel is given crappy food like Beneful...etc. Just like a small handful or a couple pieces. Maybe once a day...or every other day...will this hurt her?

I do not do this but someone I live with, who watches her all the time for me, does this. She also goes out of her way a lot to help me to. She feeds her dog low quality kibble, so she gives it to Hazel sometimes to.

She is one of those people that if I told her to stop it she would either get offended, or she would do it anyway. Because basically I would be saying your dogs food is not good enough for my dog...which is not the case at all. I just care about what goes into my pups body.

So how do I handle this situation? shrug

I really like to watch Cesar Millan, on the dog whisperer. I think he is really great! But for positive reinforcement Victoria Stilwell seems to know it really well, she was on that show, it's me or the dog.

Puppy Place > bad puppy breath

If she is 8 weeks then it is most likely puppy breath, some people think it smells nice and others do not. Hazel also had REALLY stinky poops at that age to, and she still had her puppy breath.

I just read someone elses post on stinky teething breath, good to know! I was wondering why Hazel's breath was smelling so bad lately. laugh out loud

I have just been giving her carrots to chew on and putting a little bit of lemon juice in her water, I read that is way to naturally combat stinky breath. you could also try brushing her teeth with a doggy tooth brush and paste. They also sell breath mints for dogs to

Well I never owned one, but we had 2 as next store neighbors. A nice elderly couple owned them, and they never really barked. The wife would walk them, and they were so sweet and gentle, never even pulled her.

Choosing the Right Dog > Ever "misjudged" a breed?

To be honest I never ever wanted a Chihuahua. They just seemed like really annoying dogs, that barked all the time. I also thought they were not even that cute. I told myself I would own ANYTHING but one of those annoying yappy dogs.

WELL just so happens Hazel just seemed to fall into my lap, and I just fell in love with her. I do not even know where this sterotype came from...she only barks at normal dog stuff, and even when she barks it is cute because the way she barks. I also find her adorable!

I feel really bad for misjudging the entire breed, I guess it was fate for me to get a chihuahua mix laugh out loud

It is a lot of work but you need to constantly be watching Terry, or to the best of your ability. When you see him chewing give him one of his toys to chew on, to divert his attention. Hazel is 5 months now and i have not had to much trouble getting her to chew on bones.

When she is chewing on something she is not supposed to I get her attention away or give her a bone to chew. Sometimes I will even sit with her and hold the bone for her.

That is a good idea, I did that when I first took her outside, but had stopped because she seemed to be getting better. She is extremely food motivated! laugh out loud

I would talk to your vet about her anxiety. I know some vets even prescribe anti-anxiety medication for dogs. It may not be the most popular and holistic method, but I know people do it, and it can work.

Another thing it could be is that during her sensitive period for learning, she did not hear a lot of loud noises? When I brought Hazel home it was a high stress environment and me and my boyfriend got into a few fights...that she slept right through lol. Nothing to crazy, just a lot of raised voices.

It could also just be her personality, some puppies are just more anxious then others naturally. Good Luck! way to go

That could be it, I just hope she will feel comfortable enough to walk on her own one day. She is still a puppy.
