Puppy Chow isn't going to kill her, but it isn't a great food.hug
Did you get her from a breeder, if so these are all questions they should answer.
Otherwise find a decent food, that you can afford and that you can get on a regular basis. Look for a food with meat as the first or second ingredient, not meat by products, and as few ingredients as possible. Stay away from foods with a lot of things you can't pronounce.laugh out loud
Puppies need play, sleep, and love.
Start researching puppy classes in your area, find a vet you can talk to and enjoy the puppy breathe and sharp teeth, to soon you will yearn for this time again.

I have the same issue with Shadow. Basically I stop her as soon as it starts and refocus. At the first sign she is getting to amped up I start running drills. Sit, come, whatever. If I have to I snap a leash on her. Yesterday she started growling and biting me out of excitment, I just put her to bed for a few minutes and then started over. It's a young dog thing, Sabi was pretty good at correcting but she wobbles to much now, however if you can find a steady older dog that will correct that is often the best. As I said before, I will never speak dog, as well as a dog.laugh out loud

I have to say, I guess I misjudged Rotts to. Given the number of them that I have had run ins with, I thought they would be awesome at patrol work. So I took the one the company had one night, I think Sabs was sick or something.
It was a bit unnerving when I had to wake him up every time we pulled onto a site, and a lot unnerving to watch his bored demeanor as he lumbered along beside melaugh out loudHe proved his worth when we disturbed the nest of undesirables but I have to tell you I was startled and afraid with that laid back, ho-hum attitude. So not what I expected.

I would say strong willed, but not stubborn. Independent a bit, but true lovers. Stately and proud, protective of their families, but not overt about it. They ARE the biggest dog on the block and they know it, no need to put on a show. They can be a bit goofy but not like a Dane. The ones I've dealt with were similar to Danes but without the excess of velcro, clownishness and bullheadedness. I wanted one for years but the same thing that makes me never want another Dane rules them out. They have about the same lifespan.frown

I'm confused on the no crating thing? You have a Yorkie and a Chi, I have multiple crates of a much larger size in a tiny house. Anyway, if they cannot be crated I agree with Toto, tie them up. To the bed, the wall, yourself, it really doesn't matter as long as movement is restricted. Heck I have screwed old leashes right to the walls over the years. Baby gates are cheap, for that matter stucco wire and 2x2 with some cheap hinges makes a quick cheap x pen. I built 5 4 by 4 panels for about 30 bucks.
The point here is that unless you find some way to limit their movement and monitor the behavior you will be fighting a loosing battle.

Khuno, I hope you realize pictures are property. Copying them without permission is an offense. What gives you the right to judge other people? Who appointed you the ruler of the world? You don't know any of us and I am certain you have no right to tell anyone to leave this site. I rescue dogs on a regular basis, that does not give me the right to run about telling people what to do. When I look at your dogs I see BORED! But they are your dogs and that is your choice.
A dog died because of circumstances out of the ordinary. Get over it. They have vet checks, they determined the dog was ill and pulled it. It died, that's sad. You do get that being buried in the snow didn't kill it, being sick did.

Hi Gunner.

Yup I thought Great Danes were just giant softies. Sweet and easy, Marmaduke dumb. Until I lived with one, and actually had to do my homework. Sweet yes, but with backbones of iron. Stubborn and then some when they choose. Kind to a fault, until you make them angry, not a dog I would want to be on the wrong side of. Not energetic, not biddable and ANYTHING but dumb.

I think lots of breeds get misjudged. I know several Labs that are service dogs and no one will convince me they aren't happy and fulfilled. I know two Goldies who would be devastated to be taken from their young human charges to go hunting. And I recently met a beagle that really doesn't seem inclined to leave his cushy, comfy life to go chase down dinnerwink

Dahliabig laugh Thanks for that. I thought the flexi one was funny so I poked around the site. I have been sitting here with tears running down my face, trying not to wake the neighbors laughing for an hour. The scared dog cracked me up so bad I had to scroll past it to keep reading.
