My husband and I want to take one of the dogs with us on our next trip. My question is what do you do with your pets when you go to a place where they can't go??
Say you want to visit a particular attraction or go out for dinner at a nice club that doesn't allow pets??? I am wondering about maybe having the dog boarded at a vets office or a doggy day care if we can find one while we are out. Does anyone have any ideas about this? Suggestions? We will not leave our pet in the car alone so that's out. Thanks for any help.

In a few short weeks we will be getting a new baby boy Chihuahua ...his name is Dakota and of course we will get him added on Dogster. He isn't old enough to come home just yet. I am getting a bit nervous due to his size....I was wondering if any of you knew a Chihuahua owner here on Dogster that I could connect with. I wonder if these little guys need special beds ( his legs are so short) his dad weighs 2.5 lbs and mom maybe 3lbs...I wonder what to give him for Chewys and for treats..and toys as well...like do I need to stay with the tiny toys or would he enjoy a little bit bigger toy etc???
I have been in the hospital over nite ..found out I have sleep apnea with hypoxia so my oxygen drops below 90 when I sleep....just getting some where with that and now I have strep throat! Ecckkk! Supposed to sleep at the hospital tonight for step 2 of the sleep apnea process but man I dunno..I cough my head off esp. when I firsat wake up....I mean with use of inhaler and the whole deal...anybody else ever coughed like that with strep throat?? She (Dr.) did do a culture and it is strep for sure...anyway I hope I can go into the hospital tonight for the "Tritation" test.
Miss you guys...have read several pages of posts...

Hi guys!! Remember me/us????(us being the pack)
I haven't been on in a longggg time..in the last 6 1/2 months I have buried both my parents and my husband had open heart surgery 41/2 weeks ago. Buried my mom Jan.27th so not even a month yet.It was only my family and I here for both parents as my brother lives out of state and stayed away as much as possible....anyway I am desperately trying to find my "normal" again...once upon a time my normal was being here with you guys...I used to love reading what you all were doing..many times you made me smile or laugh and actually energized me on days I needed it so I hope you don't mind me being back and "trying" to run with the pack. I read some of your latest comments last night and recognized most of you. I may have trouble keeping up but at least I am here and trying.cheer WARNING..I found out last night how rusty I am at even getting around the site.shock

Behavior & Training > Need help with a pouncing puppy

We are fostering a little 4 month old puppy...he is a shi-shon they think...he is about 7lbs. We just adore him but we do have a problem with him and that is he likes to RUN DOWN the dogs...all of them but I especially worry about him running down and pouncing on the two 5lb. Maltese's...what would you suggest I do to curb or stop this behavior? I know he is just playing but my fear is him hurting one of the littler ones. We have only had him a week today and so far I have pretty much kept them seperated for that reason but I would like to work them together. Do I maybe tether him to me and pull him back when he does this??? Or what? Appreciate any advice and will thank you in advance.

Well HI! gangwave
I decided to check in and see if you are all holding the Dogster daily page down! BOL...and I am happy to see you are!cheer We have been wayyyy too busy here...last Sept. the hubs had to have eye surgery on both eyes and a few weeks later they had to do lazor surgery on the bad eye...he also retired Jan.4th...gosh that seems wierd to see my little boyfriend when I was 15 1/2 yrs old be retired as an old man!laugh out loud Ssshhh don't tell him I said that. I continue to work (volunteer) and alot behind the scenes..in dog rescue. We have just found out our Angel has dementia (check out her page if you want)..she probably won't be with us longcry
I was a mess but I am doing better and being thankful we had her for as long as we have. We are fostering a little puppy now...a 4 month olf Sch-shon...gosh he is a darling...by the way if he weighs 7lbs at 4 months how much doyou think he'll weigh full grown? and at what age do you feel he will be full grown? Just curious. We have seven doggies living with us right now...I must be certifiably nuts! It's alot of work keeping up with them but like kids they keep me young...younger...laugh out loud We can't wait for spring. Good checkin in on ya 'all...have a great day!

Dog Health > Need your thoughts on a few surgeries

I am elated to say that Tiny had his eyes examined just about every way you could and he does NOT have inverted eye lashes....or anything wrong with his eyes, they are healthy, the cornea is clear and shiny..everything checked out great!hamster danceblue dogsnoopy They kept him an hour and 15 minutes after the appt. and let me go for awhile while they did more looking for an issue and they were going to see if his tear ducts were plugged...well Tiny stands still for no man or woman so when I got back they had decided IF we have to do that he will need to be sedated..that his tear ducts are so small they can hardly see them...mean time...and I know I'll explain this wrong...but he dosen't have excessive tearing but the ...what ever they called it in the tears hits the white hair and turns it brown so they have put him on an antibiotic to "bind up those chemicals" or whatever they called it...then if it continues to be a problem we will opt to sedate him so they can check for plugged tear ducts. But for now all is well and Lexi is just going to be left alone until and if things get worse.smile Thanks all for your help!
