Jewel ignores other people, I just went to my car to get something and Jewel was sitting by the front door of the office so I wouldn't forget her. One of the guys saw her there and tried to take her outside with him, he called out to me that he was going to take her out and then I could hear him talking to her, "Come on outside, come! Come Jewel!" Next thing I knew Jewel ran into my office and jumped on my lap to tell me about the man that tried to dognap her. laugh out loud

That's odd Ty. I feed Jewel her raw from the fridge, thawed but not room temp and she doesn't shiver afterwards. She does take a minute or two to eat it unlike Jem who INHALES the raw now that she's on it. Maybe Missy's eating too fast and getting brain freeze? laugh out loud

Small Dogs > Training A Small Dog

Okay well first off I don't really see this as a small dog issue so much as a motivation issue. Plus you just got him not that long ago and it sounds like he's been through a few things before ended up with you. So it might be a combination of finding out what his motivation is which might be a food you haven't tried yet or it might not even be food, it might be praise, a walk, a snuggle, playing etc.

Being that you used to have large dogs you might be used to doing everything standing up which would now put you in a very hovery stance over this new dog. I would try sitting down at his level to train a few things so he can see your face better.

Ty - He's a mini poodle mix, he was dropped off in a strange town with a note on his collar saying that he wasn't good with their baby. He could have bitten before for all we know. He hasn't bitten me but I've been careful.

Onxy - Maybe stuff your pocket with sheep's fleece instead of bait? applause

I know! They think that with careful placement he'll be okay but who's going to house him while they find someone? I agree we'd be better off spending time/money on dogs without issues like this. Jettsen growled at me when he came in but it was consistent growling, the same thing always made him growl until I helped him get over it. Not this "right now I'm okay with that but try it again in 5 minutes and I'm not" junk. confused After three weeks with me he should be settling in not freaking out more. Bleh, I'm done with him, they can move him into the city that way more people can see what he's like and decide for themselves.

RIP Thor. frownrainbow

I've been keeping Jem and Chaos apart because he's been growling at her for silly things like walking around the same room he's in. It's so weird because they used to play together and now it's just like he doesn't even want to see/hear her. He's so moody! Well last night I messed up and let him in from outside while Jem was loose in the house because I had to go to the bathroom. Chaos followed me in there and then Jem came in the doorway and he growled at her. I gave him a firm, "Hey! That's enough!" and he slunk over to sit at my feet. Jem walked in to sit on the bathmat and he started growling at her more so I grabbed his collar to make sure nothing happened so then he started snarling because I was holding his collar. Meanwhile I'm still sitting there pants around my ankles can't really do much!!! So I picked up the snarling dog and put him in the tub and slid the curtain shut to keep him in!! laugh out loud

I texted my director about this and ended with "If we ever write a book..." and from her reply I'm worried she's thinking we should write a book as a fundraiser now!! She's already got a title! laugh out loudbig laugh

Nicky love the rhino picture! I love rhinos. cloud 9

Sarah it's only mid June you should be able to foster another litter of puppies yet this summer! laugh out loud silenced

Last night Jewel started a dog fight at demo practise!! I'm so ashamed. We were doing the weave heeling and she went after someone so I picked her up and put her in the car for a time out. I got her out of the second run through and she went after another dog during weave heeling and I put her back in the car. Then after we were done and most of the dogs had left a few of the small dogs were hanging out off leash and I got her out because they were all dogs she knew and she went right for one of them and started a fight!! Thankfully no one was hurt and the other owners weren't mad, baffled like I was because Jewel had previously played with their dog! She's pulled from the demo and I've asked my rescue to find another place for Chaos as she doesn't like him and the only thing I can figure is that she's acting out because of him. frown

Oh I'm still having issues with Chaos, just haven't said anything. About 2/3 the times when you go to pick him up he growls, he took my hand in his mouth while brushing him and growled at me while snipping some hairs around his eyes. The picking up thing came to a head when I picked him up and put him on the grooming table to see how he was with the clippers and then he growled when I tried to lift him down. confused He ended up jumping off the table because he didn't want me to lift him off but was fine being put on.

My friend ened up not coming over last night, there was a lot of drama on the farm! Her pittie somehow fell into an old septic hole! They had it covered with a grate, sheet metal and large rock but that somehow all got moved and the dog fell in. She says that had Sneakers fallen in head first she would have died, as it was she scrapped up her neck and needed 4 baths. relieved

I've seen great improvement in Jewel's teeth since we started RMBs execpt her canines and the tooth on either side of the canine. I have a gel from the vet's office that I rub on those three teeth every day and I'm starting to see improvement.

It may just be the way your dogs chew or the structure of their mouths but you'll likely have to do those teeth by hand.

It was nice, I'd like to do it every night but it took like an hour and tonight Jem has class. After class my friend is coming over we're going to try to groom Chaos. Well my friend used to work in kennel and she's got way more experince dealing with dogs that don't want to be groomed so she's going to do most of it. I've only ever done my girls that just stand nicely on the table for me. laugh out loud
