I"m a travelling dog, we are long haul truckers and we go all over the US and Canada. I hate to be the one to break the news, but there are ticks and fleas in Canada too. I spoke to my vet and as we go to so many different places ,we take the flea and tick meds and for heartworm too. If you have ever seen a dog with heartworm you wouldn't ask any more questions. The treatment for this is long and painful, and sometimes doesn't work. I've had one tick on me and it died before it could really get into me. Even then its hard to remove.
