I was just trying to explain that since I know he only drinks when he's thirsty, I would feel bad if he went in there looking for his water bowl because if he's looking for it he's most likely thirsty. I know I don't like going long without water if I'm thirsty.

I personally had a severe B12 deficiency caused by an autoimmune disease that went undiagnosed for faaar to long. I get B12 injections and I can't even begin to put into words how much better I feel now! The difference is amazing.

| Barked: Fri Nov 20, '09 10:59am PST | | | | | | I have a bachelors degree in biology and concentrated on wildlife and environmental management. My true love is animal behavior. I would looove to someday go back to school and go for my masters in animal behavior, but can't afford it right now. I am currently unemployed, due to medical problems. My dream job is to open my own exotic animal facility, and I think I will probably always be involved with animal shelters/rescues at least to some degree.
I do believe my career path effects how I interact with my pets somewhat. Mostly I feel like it has enabled me to understand their needs and behaviors better.
It would take me forever to list everything my career knowledge has done for my pets. I feel it has helped me make more informed medical decisions, basic care decisions, with training, etc. I feel it has helped me to understand them better in general.
It is easy for me to find time for both. As I said I am currently unemployed, but my pets are my life. I know it sounds lame, but they are. I love animals and always have and I'd much rather come home and spend time with them than do anything else. Cleaning cages and tending to my pets other needs is fun for me.

Quincy - Kit doesn't drink that way though. I leave his water down all day and he just drinks when he's thirsty, he doesn't drink any more or less right after I fill the bowl. He drinks more after his walks or after I play with him for awhile, but that's understandable.
That's one of the reasons why I'm hesitant to take his bowl up, because I know if he goes looking for it that he's thirsty.

Kit is good about holding it, if he asks me to go out late at night and I don't take him he'll just hold it until I do, but I feel bad not taking him out when I know he has to go. I'm going to try taking up his water at night and see if that helps any.

My fiance has been asking me what I think about maybe starting to take Kit's water up at a certain time each night. We don't live in the safest area and he doesn't like when I have to take Kit out to pee late at night.
Is it okay to do that? I don't want Kit to get thirsty and feel mean taking away his water but we where only thinking of taking it up maybe a few hours before bed time and he'll get it back first thing in the morning.
If it's okay to do - his normal bed time is around 11 and I can take him out for the last time around that time. How soon before his last potty break should I take the water up?

I had a leash with that same type of hook that you had problems with and it somehow came unhooked. Very stressful since he was very young at the time and ran into the street. Luckily it was late and there wasn't much traffic at the time (we live in the city as well).
I got him a Lupine leash and have been using the same one for at least a few months now, and haven't had a single problem with it. I'll never get one with that other type of clip again.

| Barked: Wed Nov 18, '09 7:25am PST | | | | | | I did the same as Lilith when working on socializing Kit - I carried him around outside and did meet ups with friends and family that had dogs that I knew where vaccinated and healthy. You could look into enrolling your new pup in a puppy class, where he(?) will have the opportunity to play with other puppies and meet new people. The puppies in the class should all have age appropriate vaccinations and current vet health checks to reduce the chances of your pup catching anything. | | | | |
