no there isn't anything wrong with seeking a dog through other avenues besides a shelter or rescue but I can't for a minute believe out of the 2 million or so that are euthanized a person can't find a dog in a shelter that appeals to them? or a breed specific rescue?

and this statement you made

that's assuming that the person breeding the animals doesn't do the right thing by finding homes for the offspring and/or putting them down.

is wrong

for every puppy that your dog brings into this world and you find a home for, a home is taken away from a dog that is already in a shelter.

another thing you said is

i don't have a problem putting down animals that are not going to be homed properly

also the fact that you have no qualms about euthing because there aren't enough homes really bothers me. It is a thing that needs to be done for sure, thanks to those that do not spay/neuter, and allow dogs to breed that have no reason to breed, but the day it stops bothering me I will be looking into pyschiatric care!

And yes you weren't asking for opinions, but to start this thread you invited them.

or go to a shelter and see how many mixes and purebreds are killed everyday because of people that refuse to spay/neuter

Dodger, who gave it to you? If it was the vet I would hope it was safe!

and why can't you?????? I abhor cruelty and what you are doing is cruel. Dogs are members of your family. Is this any way to treat a family member?

any dog that is made to live outside chained up needs to have the owner ranted at IMO. Why did you get her? Also what shelter did you adopt her from? Where did you tell them you would be keeping her?

something is not right here at all, for one there is not a single shelter I know of that would adopt a dog let alone a puppy to someone who was going to keep them outside, and why would you get a dog that you had to keep outside, and if you have no choice (which makes it sound like the poster is a child) a shelter is not going to adopt to you anyway. If this is an apartment where dogs are not allowed why would a dog be allowed to be on the property tied up and howling?

There is an organization called Dogs Deserve Better that works on getting dogs off tie outs or pens and into loving homes where they belong! I will never understand why people are so cruel as to get a dog and then make it stay out. shrug

Hopefully a neighbor will call animal control and the poor little thing will be taken back to the shelter where it will have a chance of being adopted into a loving home!

a puppy's normal heart rate is 60-160 beats per minute and the normal respiration is 10-30. Had she been playing? Was she resting?

Has she been wormed?

Have you called your vet?

I would call the vet if I were you. I give Toby Zyrtec because the Benadryl just doesn't work for him, but my vet said he could also take Claritin, but I would call your vet and ask what dosage would be for your dog.
