I have a question for the cavalier owners...how much does your dog shed? If I didn't know better I'd say that Nibbles is "blowing" his coat. It's not just hair, it is clumps of hair. The other day a ball of hair rolled by me in the kitchen like tumbleweed in Dodge City. I thought cavaliers were low shedding. Also, isn't this a strange time of year for massive shedding ? With fall coming on I would think animals would get a thicker coat. I am looking for bald patches on Nibbles but his coat is not suffering any ill effects. Thanks for any insight anyone can offer.wave

I read Finn's diary and I have a few more thoughts. Maybe the broccoli is giving him gas and his stomach is upset. Also, sometimes with Nibbles I will mix things in his kibble. Maybe if you mix the chicken mixture in his kibble and slowly decrease it until it is all kibble then he will eat it. Finally, I have never given Nibbles canned dog food and I have had him since he was 10 weeks old. Hope this helps Finn.

Nibbles is not picky at all but he is not a food hound either. I am a bit different then most people...I put his food down and I leave it down until bedtime. Most of the time he waits to eat until ten at night. Once in a great while he will skip a day and not eat at all. He's healthy and active and he does not have accidents in the house so this method of feeding works for us. If you dog has a habit of this I'd have the vet check him to make sure there is nothing wrong like a food allergy. If it is a behavior issue I've read that putting the food down for 20 minutes and then taking it up until the next meal is suppose to work. Always have fresh water for him. Also, I've heard that we should make sure theyare getting enough execise so that they work up an appetite. Finally, I'd make sure he got affection in other ways then looking to be hand fed. Hope this helps.
