Aaaaaaand several months later - I've tried aloe vera on Pogo. She sees me armed with the bottle and she's G.O.N.E. lol. Even though there wouldn't be anything more soothing for it. HOWEVER, on the recommendation of a Dogster pal, I now use chamomile tea bags soaked in tepid water and drizzle that on especially her paws (and gently rub it over her tummy). She really likes that apparently and will lay back and let me do it for her. Even the paws! I think she's even taken a liking to the tea/water too, lol, and she tries to drink that.

But the main thing is that the chamomile have been helping heaps when she's been mightily bothered by her allergies and itching and biting up a storm. She'll usually settle right down and go to sleep too.

I've signed Kenyon. It made me weep to see that poor little pup's sad little face. What kind of monster would do something like that? I'll NEVER understand how someone could do something like that.

I can't tell you how sorry I am that you lost your beautiful baby. hughughug My sweet Pogo isn't at all good at coming when called, in spite of constant and ongoing attempts at training her to come when called. So I just fear such an outcome as this if I ever let her off the lead when at our park. I never let her off her harness, which makes me sad, but I'd rather curtail her playing than to face such an awful tragedy. Sending warm consoling hugs to you and your family. xoxoxoxo hughug

Also, there seems to be a space in the word angry in one of those links, which when I went to correct it, doesn't show up in the editing screen, so beware of that!

Hi Budrow wave There now seems to be a lot of evidence for muddying of the waters by Ed Sayres and co in NYC over Oreo's death. You might like to check out this article (I'm not going to hyperlink it because it seems to stuff up when I do that, so please copy and paste) which includes a photo of Oreo taken minutes before she was euthanased. Some aggressive dog, eh?

http://takingonanimalcruelty.com/warning-vicious-aggressive-a ngry-dog-picture

There's another article that's also particularly insightful here:

http://www.examiner.com/x-16635-SF-Animal-Shelters-Examiner ~y2009m11d16-The-meaning-of-Oreo

It's also very good and encouraging to see that a US legislator has now proposed Oreo's Law for NYC so that in future if a dog is up for euthanisation and a shelter steps up and says they will take them, it will be law, as it is in California apparently, they the SPCA etc be obliged to surrender the animal to the shelter. If this law is passed, at least Oreo's death will leave behind a positive legacy for other dogs in a similar position.

There's a very interesting and illuminating article on Sayres and the SPCA under his incumbancy:

The Meaning of Oreo

If all the information in that article is correct and true, then Sayres deserves to be run out of town on a rail

(I just tested that link and it's not working for me for some reason although I copied and pasted it. Perhaps if you go to www.examiner.com and search for an article entitled The Meaning of Oreo you'll be able to find it. It's really worth a read)

I have problems with itchy skin/allergies, which I sometimes (actually a lot in the spring and summer) have to take Iramine and Prednisolone for, but Mummy hates giving me medication. Every morning she gives me two fish oil capsules wrapped in peanut butter (lite peanut butter!), but she's going to look into getting me some salmon oil. Thanks for that tip!

I'm so very sorry that you had to lose your beautiful boy. I hope that in time you'll come to a peaceful place, knowing you did the most loving, courageous thing you could do for Juneau, to let him go so that he can run young and healthy at the Bridge until you get to see him again, and I know you will. hughughughug
