Rosco, developed a fear of nail clippers after being cut once (when he suddenly leaped while my husband was cutting his nails) and we had a hard time after that. The groomers had trouble handling him, and the vet said NEXT time his nails were clipped there, he would have to be sedated.
So I taught him to allow his nails to be filed, for treats. I think I'm the one you remembering mentioning it to you.
I had read to use a carpenter's file for it, so I chose one of my husband's rasps, and it works great!
I acclimated him to it slowly.
Now I file them as part of his nightly "school"--his fun tricks and training sessions I do with him--so he thinks of it as another way to earn food.
You can get a rasp from Home Depot, or whatever hardware-type stores you have over there, or maybe you can borrow one from your Dad.
