Come on, throw- it! throw it! |
| Barked: Wed Mar 4, '09 7:42pm PST | | | | | | Oooh. We know someone in Florida who helps to rescue poodles. She is WONDERFUL!! Send me a pmail and I will put you in touch with her.
For teeth, there is nothing better than RAW BONES. I just love to gnaw on a nice beef bone with some marrow in it. When my Mom started giving them to me, my teeth were kinda brownish. Now they are sparkly white, and it only took a couple of weeks! Plus, it's waaaay cheaper than having teeth cleaned at the vet's.

I can WAVE! Let- me show you- again! |
| Barked: Mon Aug 11, '08 9:37pm PST | | | | | | Karma and I were adopted at the same time. We are very attached to each other, but Karma is more attached to me than I am to her. For example, she will not go for a walk without me if she can help it! She is also very attached to Mom and Dad. It's just who she is--Miss Needy! As for myself, I love my people and I love Karma, but I like to go off on my own to explore, and I prefer to sleep by myself on the couch in the family room. The bed is just to crowded for me!
Mom says that it is more difficult to train 2 puppies at the same time. It is easy for the puppies to get confused, because if one does the right thing and gets rewarded, the other puppy isn't sure why it's not getting a treat. Make sure to give the puppies separate training sessions every day, even if they're short ones. To get the puppies to bond with people, spending time one-on-one is the best way.
You will never have 2 dogs more closely bonded than ones raised together from puppyhood. Good luck with it! And remember, the only thing better than a Poodle is TWO Poodles!

| Barked: Mon Jan 7, '08 8:34am PST | | | | | | We know lots of poodles in our neighbourhood. Some of them we met right here on Dogster! It's true, that Poodles love to play with other Poodles. I love to play tag, it's my favourite game. My sister Karma only has eyes for her frisbee or ball, though. She loves people more than other dogs. Except for me, of course. | | | | |

| Barked: Mon Jan 7, '08 8:29am PST | | | | | | I am 14 months old too, and I am about 27" at the shoulder. I weigh about 40 pounds. I'm not really skinny, but I don't have any fat on my body. Both Karma and I are much bigger than the other female Standard Poodle on our street, who is only about 23" tall and weighs about 35 pounds. | | | | |

| Barked: Mon Jan 7, '08 8:26am PST | | | | | | I am 14 months old, and about 28 inches at the wither, but I only weigh about 45 pounds. Mom calls me a super model, because I have long legs and am really, really slim. My New Year's Resolution is to gain some weight. | | | | |

| Barked: Wed Oct 31, '07 8:41pm PST | | | | | | Thanks for all the responses. Java, I look good in photos, but when you pet me, all my vertebrae, ribs, and hip bones are sticking right through my skin. My new groomer is a poodle owner herself, and says that I am way too skinny for my age. My "sister" is a week younger than me (from a different litter, obviously hehe) and is thin, but not bone-skinny like me.
Mom bought some Orijen today and mixed it with my regular food, and boy did I ever wolf it down! I think it is the best thing I ever ate. I guess we are going to try a bag to see what it does for me.

Come on, throw- it! throw it! |
| Barked: Tue Oct 30, '07 6:47pm PST | | | | | | Thanks for the quick response Gunner! There are a few stores around that carry Origen, so we just have to get our paws on some. I sure liked it when I tasted it at my friend's house, so I'm hoping my mom or dad will buy some tomorrow so I can start packing on some pounds. We feel better about the protein content issue now, but now we have another question: how come most dog foods have such low protein content then? | | | | |

Come on, throw- it! throw it! |
| Barked: Tue Oct 30, '07 5:59pm PST | | | | | | My mom is concerned that I am not on the right food. I am super-model slim, even though food is out all the time. My food has some corn and wheat gluten in it, and she thinks maybe I am not tolerating the grains well. I have lots of wax in my ears and kinda runny eyes, although I don't chew my paws or anything. Someone recommended us to try Origen dog food, which looks great--but the protein content is really high. Something like 42%. My current food is around 24%. Most dog foods are in the 20-something % range, so 42 seems really high. Are there any potential problems in feeding this much protein? I am one year old (tomorrow), so I'm as tall as I'll be, but still very skinny! My sister Jasmine (who is not my littermate) is not skinny like me, she is a normal weight for a Standard Poodle, and we're about the same age--that's why mom is a little worried about me. | | | | |
