I'm a Lover NOT- a Fighter!

| Barked: Mon Nov 23, '09 4:31pm PST | | | | | | Hello Everyone Been very busy between my pack and dogs I care for around here. Almost got the backyard all winterized this past weekend. Had to buy some tarps to cover up some structures in the backyard. Hope everyone has a festive Thanksgiving with family & friends. Have pets to care for Thanksgiving, but I'm grateful for the work. Going to find sometime to eat Turkey with friends inbetween walking dogs though.
Sarge sorry to hear you weren't feeling well, glad you are feeling better.
Flicka's Mom wish you had gotten better news from Drs
Rocky & Hayden HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!
Takoda's Dad I was thinking of getting the Dyson Animal Ball for the Hubby for Christmas ( He does the cleaning ) They are suppose to be the best for pet hair. They are much cheaper to purchase on dogster at that new Dyson group. I think it was $200 less. If you do get one before Christmas let me know how you like it.
Romeo is doing the same. I've been looking around for another Orthopetic Vet to get a second opinion of Romeo's progress or lack of. He should be doing better, I think, than he is. He seems happy & not in pain though. But his breed can take a lot of pain before you see it.
S&S Hope Mom & Dad both are feeling better.
Wishing Everyone A Happy & Healthy Thanksgiving!
God Bless! | | | | |

| Barked: Mon Nov 16, '09 7:45am PST | | | | | | Hi Everyone It's nice to finally get some time to come and visit you all.
S & S your pictures look great and it's wonderful to see you all out walking together again. Dad looks so happy holding the leash again.
Takoda your painting is so good it looks like a picture! That artist is very talented.
We just had our Frankie's portrait painted by another gifted artist Flicka's Mom told us about Terry Stanley, but you all probably know her already. She brought my Frankie to life again in her work.
The weather here in Jersey has been warm for this time of year. Yesterday was almost 70. The dogs love it. We all went for a 4 1/2 mile walk in the park. The only bad thing is I found a tick on me last night. The dogs are treated with the Frontline Plus , but I'm not!
Today is another warm day , hopefully we will get to go for another walk, no ticks this time though I hope.
I have to go to Dr. for routine check up this morning, hope I can get out of my driveway, township is putting my tax dollars to work and putting new sidewalks in.
Romeo has been doing well. He still sometimes drags his leg that had the surgery, which concerns me. I brought him back to Dr. Feinwick about that and he said it had nothing to do with the surgery , which I find hard to believe since he didn't do it before surgery. I'm thinking if it doesn't get better soon bringing him to another orthopedic Vet . for an opinion. My Doberman Roxie must of sprained her front foot and was limping for a few days. I said OH NO not another Vet bill. But I just kept her quiet for a few days and THANK GOD she is not limping anymore.
These Fur Kids sure can keep us going!!! But they are sure worth it
Flicka's Mom hope you are feeling better. I don't know if I told you or not , but your vacation pictures were great! I'm sure being out enjoying the beauty of nature had to rejuvenate you mind, body & spirit.
Hope everyone is doing well and has a GREAT DAY!

I'm a Lover NOT- a Fighter!
|
| Barked: Mon Nov 2, '09 6:31am PST | | | | | | Hi Everyone
Hope all are doing well. Tried to read and catch up on what's happening with everyone. Our computer crashed and we had to get a new hard drive and transfer what we had left on the old one to a new one. The weather in Jersey has been wet and warm one day and cold the next. Bad on my sinus, terrible headaches. Have been busy with the Pet Sitting. Last week I cared for 15 cats , 9 dogs and 2 rabbits. This week is just 2 cats , 2 rabbits and 1 dog.
Took the Grandchildren Trick or Treating, my 3 yr. old Grand daughter was Snow White. She was so cute walking in her little high heels carrying her plastic pumpkin for her treats. She was a pro in those heels , she would trip or fall into a whole in the lawn and would catch her balance never missing a step or falling.
TOO ADORABLE!
Romeo is doing well. He still holds his leg up sometimes and once in awhile he will chew his nails till they bleed. But not all the time and still can't figure out what triggers it.
I read that there were problems with the thread not showing and also not posting because of the name of the breed of dog . Does HQ even bother reading things before they drop them? Guess they're too busy.
I also read about a book that sounds interesting , if I read the post right it is called " Breakfast at Sally's" by Richard Le Mieux
Can I find it at the bookstores or Amazon.com?
Hoping today is a GREAT DAY FOR ALL!!!!

| Barked: Thu Oct 15, '09 8:57am PST | | | | | | Hi Everyone
First I want to say CONGRATS Flicka on dog of the week
Takoda great picture you are a handsome guy!
Nice to meet you Burt, and glad to see you found a loving home. I came from a bad owner who would yell and hit me , that's why I ran away from him. My Mom knew the bad owner and when she got me out of the woods she kept me and promised me no one would ever abuse me again. I was also scared of every thing and everyone. My Mom had read a lot about rehabilitating dogs and used what she had read to help me. If you like she would help your Mom and Dad help you in anyway she can.
Good idea to get x-rays first to make sure nothing physically wrong.

Toffi hope you get good news
Romeo is doing well, only chewing occasionally. He has been dragging his leg that was operated on , which is causing an abrasion on his paw. We went to see Dr. Feinwick yesterday and he said that the next thing for the chewing would be Prozac which would cause him to loose his personality Dr. Feinwick said. I told him no way, no Prozac. It took a long time to bring Romeo's personality out and I'm not going to let him walk through life a zombie. He isn't chewing that much anymore. I bought those room diffuser that are suppose to calm dogs, called Comfort Zone. They seem to have been working. As far as the abrasion on his paw I'm going to get him a pair of boots for his hind legs to wear for walks, until his leg is better.
Takoda's Dad that reminds me .....Romeo is also a fierce chewer, and I found a great chew that is also good for their teeth and breath and fully dissolves and will not clog them if swallowed. They are called C.E.T. HEXtra the extra large size is $ 10.99 for 15 chews in a bag. I get them from http://revivalanimal.com
Temp. here has also fallen down to 30's over night . Thankfully got all the tropical plants inside until next spring . Raining today and suppose to rain for a few days. I have my 35yr. high school reunion Sat. night . Looking forward to seeing old school mates, and how we all have changed over the years!
Have a GREAT day everyone

| Barked: Wed Sep 23, '09 8:38am PST | | | | | | Hi Everyone Haven't been able to go online our monitor died a few days ago. We found and old dinosaur to use for now, until we can afford a new one.
We finally closed the pool today. It's always depressing to do.
The Jersey corn stalks are starting to turn color , which is always a sign of the fall and Halloween.
Romeo has been doing well. He hasn't chewed his feet lately. I switched his water bowls to ceramic instead of the stainless steel, maybe that was the problem . Just have to wait and see. He is still dragging his foot a little and I'm going to call today to ask Dr. Fenwick if that is normal.
Flicka's Mom the pictures look great ! The boys look like they are having a ball. They sure do love the water!
Enjoy the peaceful beauty of nature were you are , it surely is beautiful and so therapeutic for the mind, body and spirit.
Hoping all furfriends and their humans are well.
Sending our LOVE to you all.

Today they are saying rain so we better get out for a walk a little earlier today. Romeo has been good and not chewing his feet the last few days. We are just taking it one day at a time.
Sarge we hope you are feeling better soon. There must be a bug going around here also , all of us had some loose BM's for a few days.
Flicka's Mom we are praying you get good news from the Drs. soon.
Enjoy your vacation !

| Barked: Mon Sep 14, '09 9:01am PST | | | | | | Hi Everyone Hope all are doing well
Takoda's Dad your poem touched our Hearts and brought a big smile for the fortunate pups like Takoda who found such loving homes as yours. God Bless Carol and those like her .
Flicka's Mom so glad to hear that you are having some changes with your hand and hopeful all will be well and back to normal again soon. Excited for you and your vacation next week. Will have to vacation through you and hearing the great time had when you return
We had lots of rain here the past few days, pools still open and with all the wind and rain the bottom of pool was full of leaves. It took me a full day to get them all out. Weather is warming up again and hopefully I might get to enjoy another day or two in the pool before having to close it for the season.
Romeo is doing well. He still chews his feet on occasion but at least not on a daily basis anymore. I just heard from one of my clients that some dogs are allergic to stainless steel bowls and will itch and scratch from eating or drinking from them. My dogs water bowls are stainless steel ,so I'm going to switch to glass or porcelain and see what happens.
I tell you I should have named Romeo "Murphy" The Dr. gave the OK that Romeo can climb the stairs again about a week ago, and the other day I'm at the bottom of the stairs , when Romeo starts coming down, normal speed and all of a sudden just trips and does two complete summer salts down the remaining steps finally landing on his back, legs strait up in the air ! He jumps up like nothing happened and continues on his way Thank the good Lord he didn't hurt his leg. I tell you this Boy is the cause of all my grays!
We hope every furfriend and human are doing well and send our Love to All of you for all your love and support you have sent our way through Romeo's pre & post surgery.

| Barked: Mon Sep 7, '09 8:44am PST | | | | | | Hi Everyone Happy Labor Day!
Can't believe the summer is gone already.....way too short. The last of the grandchildren have gone home . Next year we are going to keep 2 at a time, instead of 1 each week. Too tiring. Miss them when they go home though.
The weather has really cooled down in just a day. Was 80 on Friday and enjoyed the pool with grand daughter, yesterday just in the 70's and today the same.
Flicka sorry to hear your Dad battled a stomach flu, I know they can feel like an alian is in you trying to bust out!
Flicka's Mom The portraits are beautiful , I contacted the artist to see if I could get one of my Francois who went to Rainbow Bridge last November.
Takoda's Dad, great news about your adopted family getting a good opportunity , too bad so far away, know you will miss the adopted grand kids.
Dixie happy to hear you are feeling better and doing well on the Z/D diet.
Sending our best wishes to all for a wonderful Labor Day week.
Romeo is still chewing his feet on this Elavil medication Dr. Fenwick said next thing will be Prozac. What can I do If it helps him, I guess that's the thing to do. Still giving him Milk Thistle everyday. He has started back to taking walks with all his Sisters & me again, and is aloud to climb the stairs to sleep in my bedroom.
Can't put the emu oil on his scar anymore , he licks it off. But it healed it really quick and nice. I'll keep it in the fridge for now.
Have to go walk the furkids, ENJOY THE DAY
