We have to agree with Bear RIP MY- SWEET BEAR- BEAR when it comes to shaving a pom. I am all black and people think that I should be shaved to "keep cool". Well it doesn't work that way...the 2 different lengths of fur that we have, the under and outer, are what keeps us cool in the summer the same way they keep us warm in the winter. We have friends who shaved their poms and the fur never grew back the same. Now they don't have the beautiful POM look to them. A little trim here and there, around the ears, feet and bottom (rearend) is all they need.

OH MY DAWG! I know how you are feeling! We get the same remark all the time when asked what kind of dog we are, and we say Pom....."You can't be a pom...you have long silky hair and look like a fox and we have never seen a black pom. They are always orange. Are you sure it's a pom?+" Well humph....I just strut my stuff and think, I have the paper work (going back 12 generations) that prove I AM a pure pom so there!

A pom is beautiful no matter what color we are!

I go between 10 - 11 lbs and will be 3 in April. The vet said I am at a perfect weight since my ribs can still be felt easily and I do not have the beginnings of any knee problems. I run around like crazy so I am very active. I am fed 2x'a aday....1/4 cup each time and snacks (home made)once in awhile. Never am I fed table food. My parents are of "average size" with mom being 8 pounds and dad is 10. Brothers and sister run from 8 - 13 pounds.
