If you use probiotics, make sure to space it out a few hours after the dose of meds. You do not want the antibiotic digesting before it does it's job.

List the 5 favorite things your pup loves to do, if your pup is not able to enjoy them, then the quality of life may not be there.

Also, talk to your Vet. They may be able to help you decide, by being more impartial.

Maybe a separate area, secure from the other pups and an area easier to clean might make a difference.

My personal opinion is I would not do it, unless I knew the pup was suffering.

laugh out loudlaugh out loud Daddy only knows how to program missile defense systems, Mom doesn't let him do anything to her laptop.laugh out loudlaugh out loudlaugh out loud

When he is home next week, Mom will mention it to him, not sure if he can handle setting something up in an excel type program.

He always needs specific things, so maybe if you start listing examples and such, he could work on it..... Then again he may just say "How hard is it just to figure it out each day?" Sometimes it's hard to be married to a math wiz........

Have just given him amounts and he can spit out the answer in seconds. rolls eyes

Raw Food Diet > RED MEAT

Spuds

Happy Turkey- Day!!

Barked: Wed Nov 18, '09 8:52pm PST
Spuds gets either a portion of chicken + bone or pork + bone every day, the rest is just about all red meat, (organs/fish once a week). Mostly beef, some Bison or pork.

We are adding a day of tripe now too.

Hoping to add some venison soon.

Raw Food Diet > my dog is bored of raw chicken

Kolbe, Spuds would take a few bites and be done. We would have a bunch of bile throw ups and eating grass, not to mention wasting food.

For me it was a choice of hand feeding, or cleaning up bile. Since he wolfs it down when hand fed, it isn't a problem.

He does eat ground mixes on his own, his paws can never touch his food, unless it is a bully stick. shrug

I hold the bone while Spuds chews on it. I also hand feed the rest of his dinner in thinly sliced strips. His meat also needs to be room temp, not straight from the fridge.

If I did the tough love, and set out the food, he would not eat most nights.

Spoiled??? Not really, this way dinner time takes 5 to 10 mins, not a big deal to me.

How about some pork ribs? There aren't any beef bones I have fed. Double check the teeth.

I use chicken and pork for the bone.

Good present for Christmas!!!

We do chicken, beef, liver & kidney. I just slice and toss in.

It is great to set up in the garage when doing organs, otherwise if you have visitors, they might be shocked by the smell,or the dogs hang out near it, hoping for the jerky to jump out on it's own.

I also just pop the jerky into a baggie and toss in the freezer for storage. I use ours every 4 to 6 weeks, depends if we have other pups visiting or not.

By walking through the woods, or other areas that ticks live, you can attract them as easily as dogs do.

Dog Health > Red bullseye rash from tick - Lymes?

Spuds

Happy Turkey- Day!!

Barked: Sun Nov 15, '09 6:35pm PST
Dogs do not get the red bulls eye like humans do.

Is it possible that you pup was also bitten by other insects?

Is your dog on a tick preventative?

Lyme can take from 2 to 5 months to actually infect the dog's system, not necessarily an immediate infection.

We are in NJ and will be using Frontline Plus year round. Spuds is on antibiotics for Lyme right now.

Spuds is going through a second round of antibiotics for Lyme.

Back in April when he tested as exposed, the Vets stated they are starting to recommend it year round, since our winters aren't cold enough, or we get enough warmer weather to keep the ticks active almost year round.

I will be using it year round now. I'm in New Jersey.
