| | Barked: Wed Feb 4, '09 6:25pm PST | | | | | | As someone who had to say goodbye to an almost 14 year old cocker and my beloved Rems who had just turned eight years old - here's what I know and I hope can help you: It's always sort of up to the dog and your connection to that beloved pet - to let you know. With my cocker, Bailey - I knew it was going to happen for about three or four days prior - because he seemed to be declining - and mind you this was a dog who, God Bless Him - could not really hear that well for the last year of his life - and seemed to just like to sleep a lot - but as long as he ate and wanted to go outside and looked happy I knew he was fine. The last week of his life - he didn't even want to go out and pee in the morning - it was me and Rems who were more worried than anything else - and then on the Saturday night of that week - Bailey looked at me with a face that said "It's time to let me go" so the next day I did.
With Rems - it was very difficult because he was just eight years old and this dog was my HEART - but if you read his diary - I think you will understand, and hopefully be enlightened by my experience, I hope this helps - and you are both in my prayers, Marlene | | | | |

I told you Carson - you will be fine. Are they making you wear that collar thing-y? Because I refused to move while I had it on. Remember, I told you Car, when we played in the park two weeks ago? I wouldn't move when it was on me!

My mother never took me to the training there - because I did not care for the training guy - and he was all over us the first time she took me there as a puppy - to sign up for the training etc. And another thing she did not like was whenever we ran into him after that he was always asking me to sit or give me a command before giving me a treat. If my mother is not interested in you training me then leave us alone! We had a trainer come to our house because of me and Oliver Louis - we'd never have lasted in a group style class!
