| Barked: Wed Nov 4, '09 7:10am PST | | | | | | Hello all,
I am hoping to get some solid advice. I currently have a 7 year old pom. His Big Sis died last year of cancer. Since then he has adjusted quite nicely being the only dog. However he has severe separation anxiety. I have decided to get an Eskimo. The puppy is 8 weeks and I am curious to any advice as to how best integrate her into our pack. My Pom may be a little jealous at first but I really think that he is ready for a new playmate. What do you think? Am I being selfish wanting another dog? Is it fair to my existing one, and how can I ensure they get along? All advice is appreciated!

These words are so therapeutic for me I cant even thank all of you ENOUGH! The pain is the little things, her not meeting me at the door, watching out for her sleeping, looking at her favorite resting spot! Yesterday I lost it, the creamation company called and said "Would you like for us to deliver your pet to the vet or Fed Ex her to you?" WHAT?!?!? I lost it.... I hope once I receive her remains the healing will begin. My problem is my heart is in a battle with my mind, I KNOW I did the right thing in my mind, it is my heart that is broken and that is where I second guess. It is so hard when it is YOUR decision to make to put down your soulmate.... You guys are so great, I cant tell you how much your support means to me, hopefully soon I can bring myself to put up a tribute page for her, lots of love to all!

This is MY- world, dont- forget it! |
| Barked: Tue Nov 4, '08 4:31am PST | | | | | | Im gonna let mom describe this because I dont know WHAT is going on!
Ok, I had Cleo for 13 years, when y mom died in a car accident and I adopted my baby sisters, I thought "adopt a family adopt a dog" and Cleo was that dog, what a perfect dog, no biting, peeing in house, chewing, etc...she truly was an angel.
4 months ago she was diagnosed with bone cancer and kidney failure, but boy was that dog HAPPY. I took off work to tend to her, learned alot I didnt know (fed them IAMS most of there life, boy what a mistake!) went on lots of walks, fed well, lots of love....
Well yesterday am, she couldnt breathe through her nose and I knew something was wrong, however, she still wanted to go on her walk and was HAPPY.
I took her to the vet and found the cancer spread to her sinuses, it was time to let her go.
My dilemma is everyone says that dogs will let you know when it is time for them to go, this was not the case here. We went outside to wait for the family, went on a long walk and she was as happy as ever. This made it very difficult for me, people are sometimes WRONG they DONT let you know, watching her die was the most devasating thing I have ever experienced!!!!
I feel the normal pain, but the guilt is overwhelming, anyone ever feel like this??
Thank god for saucey, I would be devasated if I was all alone, Cleo was truly mhy soul mate and I feel a piece my soul has just been ripped from my body!!!!!
Any kind words would be appreciated.....

| Barked: Tue Oct 14, '08 2:34pm PST | | | | | | Has anyone done this?? With Cleo getting the "specia" food due to her terminal illness, Saucey is now eating SG Barking at the Moon mixed with about a 1/2 teaspoon of Beechnut Salmon baby food, only has salmon and sweet potatoes in it NO ONION.
He loves it and it makes him think he is getting something special like his big sis. Not much, just enough to coat the 1/4 cup food he gets a.m. and p.m.
What do you all think of this, you were so great about answering earlier questions!
Thanks! | | | | |

This is MY- world, dont- forget it! |
| Barked: Mon Oct 13, '08 2:28pm PST | | | | | | Hi all you may remember me on health forum my big sis has bone cancer/renal failure, this is what sparked my mom to investigate BETTER foods, as a result Cleo (sis) is doing great on Innova senior and we all feel we have "borrowed some time" by improving her food, now to ME....
A groomer cut my hair too short a few years ago and my coat never looked the same, mom decided to put me on grain free and VOILA hair coming back beautifully and I am MUCH happier at feeding time. Went to the vet and I gained a WHOPPING THREE POUNDS in a year! They found I had a thyroid problem , but going from 10 to 13 pounds makes me obese! (this is primarily BEFORE starting grain free)
SO, doc gave me a weight loss aid and thyroxine to improve my thyroid levels, I only get 1/2 cup food daily, 1/4 a.m and p.m.
My question is the grain free foods are so much more caloric, do dogs LOSE weight on these diets? Tried TOTW, wellness core ocean (like it so so) tried a sample today of Solid Gold barking at the moon and whoffed it down! Love it!
Trying EVO next, what would be the proper feeding guides for these foods and can I lose weght on it?
Any feedback is appreciated!
