My horses get crimped oats 2 x per day. Chewie, my soon to be 21 year old Oldenberg gets timothy hay (the worse quality the better, he has a terrible stomach) and Kobe gets alfalfa. I've tried probiotics, prebiotics, digestive enzymes, different hays, pellets, sweet feed, rolled oats, crimped oats, corn... You name it, and Chewie still has diarrhea. It gets worse when the grass is new and lush, but even on a dirt paddock he gets it. Sigh.

What is your career?
Small business owner- I own a pet boutique.

What knowledge has your career lent to your pets? Well, it works the other way around for me! If it hadn't been for Parker, and all of his health problems, I probably wouldn't have opened the boutique. I have a degree in Equestrian Studies. Parker was a sickly puppy and I spent the first year of his life traveling between vets and trying different foods, only to discover for myself that he has allergies to gluten and starch. If it hadn't been for those issues, I would have never learned about good nutrition and wouldn't have wanted to open a store focusing on good nutrition for dogs and cats!

How do you find time for both? The pups come to work with me almost every day. Sometimes they get burned out an need a day or two off, but other than that they love playing with their pals!

Baci

Prey Model- Puppy!

Barked: Sun Nov 15, '09 5:14pm PST
Baci is from a reputable breeder. That's a sentence I never thought I'd say- that my Mom has a goldendoodle from a reputable breeder. However, we did not purchase Baci. He was given to us.

Baci's breeders do OFA (and only breed Excellent and good hips and elbows), CERF, vWD, cardiac tests and thyroid tests. They show both their poodles and their goldens to their Ch, and all dogs also compete in obedience. Baci's parents, both being Goldendoodles (he's a f2b), are obedience titled. His mother was OFA excellent hips and elbows, and his father was excellent hips, good elbows. Baci has an amazing temperament and has completed the AKC Star Puppy program and will be getting his CGC when he turns 1 in preparation for the Delta Society test.

We weren't looking for a Goldendoodle, but Baci came to us serendipitously. After we got him I looked and there was also only 1 Goldendoodle on Petfinder within 250 miles.

Is Baci a mutt? Yes. Is he a well bred mutt? Yes. Would I get another Goldendoodle? In a HEARTBEAT.

Choking can occur with ANY treat, not just trachea. Supervision is key. I'm sorry about what happened to your dog, but let it be a lesson to all of us to supervise our pups while they're chewing!

I don't use them, don't sell them and don't recommend them. I refuse to sell anything in my store that comes with an amputation warning.
