How long has he been eating the Purina?
My friend changed her dog's food and the dog began urinating a lot. She took the dog to the vet, the blood work came back clean. It turns out, the food the dog had been eating had a lot of salt in it, the new food didn't even list salt as an ingredient. The dog had been retaining water, and was getting rid of the excess after the switch in food. The dog is doing fine now.
Hope you get to the bottom of it.

I don't know if the food thing will work. When she gets into her anxious state, she pays no attention to treats. I could lay a big, juicy steak in front of her at that point and she'd most likely ignore it.
I'll have to have her blood tested. I didn't think of that. She's not nervous all the time. In the evening, she's very playful. I think it's because she can't see the cars going by.
I'll have to look for that book, too.
Thanks. | | | | |

We have a bird (a cockatiel). We have 2 JRTs. They have each tried to attack him on more than one occasion (as has our Papillon), but with no damage. We are able to leave them unattended with the bird (who sits on top of his cage all day).
Small animals outside the house face more of a problem than our bird does (we're at 5 rabbits, 2 mice, 1 turtle and 1 mole and counting).

She refuses to go outside during the day (we have a busy road that runs behind our house). At night, she'll go out, but only if there are no cars going by.
She also gets really nervous if semi-trucks or other loud vehicles go by and she's inside the house. She pants really hard, shakes and paces, looking for somewhere to hide. I'm afraid she's going to give herself a heart attack.
Sophie is also terrified to ride in the car. She tries to get out if you stop the car. The whole time the car is moving, she is panting like crazy and shaking really hard.
I've got an Anxiety Wrap for her. It doesn't seem to be helping much. I am trying an over the counter medication (Stay Calm), but I think she might be allergic, plus it didn't seem to help.
I'm not sure what to do. I don't want to keep her tranquilized, but I also don't want to see her so scared all the time (not to mention she does her major business in the house).
Help!!

My sister Lori just bought a dog carrier to give to my mom (and her's) for Christmas. I'm not sure who makes it, but it seems pretty nice. Plus, it was personalized. She sent a few of my pictures and they painted my face on the side of it. It is absolutely stunning!!! I can't post a photo yet, but I will after Christmas.
The site is www.canvascritters.com
They also personalize other stuff.
