| Barked: Sat Apr 25, '09 9:56pm PST | | | | | | thank you all for your support. sorry, no leads yet.
here's a cross post from Bailey's mom:
Our black, tan and white shiba inu ran from home on Milburn Street in Springfield Gardens on 4/2. We have put up signs everywhere, gone to pounds, add in newspapers, calling services for pets, petfinders, (lost and found web sites), police, vets, etc. etc. We want her back so badly and will never give up hope. We think someone is keeping her because she is such a great dog and only 2 yrs old very friendly but runs like the wind. She is microchiped but if someone is keeping her they won’t care about that. If you have seen her or can help in any way please call us. There is a reward but more than that we are heartsick over losing her and need to know she is ok. please any help....please......516 232 6259.

sorry to invade your turf, but BAILEY needs help to be reunited with her family! Can y'all take a moment to CROSS POST this info to your other boards and groups on and off Dogster? Please email far and wide because ya never know when one of your friends may have contacts in the New York area.
Bailey thanks you for your time and efforts!
Bailey has been missing since 4-2-09 from Springfield Gardens, NY (near Queens)
Shiba Inu – black body with tan head and white feet
3 y/o spayed female – 14 lbs
collar broke so no tags, but she is microchipped
We fear someone may have found Bailey and is trying to keep her, so please be on the lookout for anyone with a “new” small Shiba. Her family desperately misses her!
Please CONTACT 516-232-6259 with ANY information

Good intentions in the search for a missing dog may hurt more than help.
Apollo, a German shepherd, went missing after his owner, Sgt. Hamilton Taylor Woodruff, 23, of State College crashed off Interstate 99 onto Mountain Road in Freedom Township Monday.
Woodruff died Tuesday.
Searchers have been focusing on Mountain Road near the site of the crash, said Trooper Jeff Petucci of state police at Hollidaysburg.
Kathleen Neal, Central Region Emergency Strike Team operations director, said Apollo was spotted at 3 p.m. Friday, and searchers got within 50 feet of him before he ran.
Neal said people with good intentions are leaving food out for Apollo, but doing so will work against search efforts.
She said humane dog traps have been set out, but if Apollo is not hungry, the traps are useless.
The Pennsylvania State Animal Response Team's Bedford County Chapter sent out an urgent message Friday evening reporting an injured German shepherd was spotted in Bedford near the former Agway and North Street.
A Bedford County 911 spokeswoman said it is not known if the dog is Apollo, but the center is relaying messages to Blair County 911, and the emergency call centers are working together.
The urgent message asked anyone who spotted the dog to call 911 and not attempt to catch him because an injured animal is "unpredictable."
Neal said people from Mount Nittany United Methodist Church in State College will continue to search today. Woodruff's father, Howard, is pastor of the church.
Woodruff had been a Marine for about five years, a U.S. Marine Corps spokesman said.
He joined the Marines in June 2004 and was assigned to the Marine Corps Special Operations Command March 14, less than a month before his death.
Woodruff was an Arab linguist, attached to an intelligence company in the special operations support group at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, spokesman Maj. Michael Armistead said.
The Marine had two overseas deployments, Armistead said.
His awards include the Iraqi Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Humanitarian Assistance Award, National Defense Ribbon and Good Conduct Medal.

I just got off the phone with the Humane Society and they referred me to another place. Neither place has Timber at this point. They didn't seem terribly interested in helping me either.
At this point, I hope that Timber goes back to the assisted living facility where he was spotted to eat because they said they were putting food out for him, and hopefully he'll let someone get close enough to him to catch him.
(even if this dog isn't Timber, I hope someone catches him so they can get his injuries taken care of and find his family if he has one)

| Barked: Sat Jan 17, '09 1:11pm PST | | | | | | Timber is gorgeous. Hope he is found very soon!
Greta, does he have a FLYER? most dogs are found because of flyers!!!
Amanda should try to get flyers to places along I-40 and TRUCKERS are often very helpful.
I see he is already posted on:
K9 Amber Alert
Craigslist (under lost+found) for Little Rock, AR - Fort Simth, AR - Oklahoma City, OK - and Tulsa, OK
I posted to Petfinder.com classifieds, but their new system takes up to 2 days to be listed. I emailed them asking it to be displayed in AR and OK (picked ?Warner, OK since it’s a little over 3 hours from Little Rock). did not include the phone number because I know of a scam where someone calls from "Petfinders" and offers to call local groups/vets for a fee - this is a SCAM that is not associated with Petfinder.COM
if Amanda has not already, she should register him on http://www.petharbor.com/. they list many (but NOT ALL) area shelters and some rescues.
http://www.findtoto.com/ (for a fee) might be difficult to use since we are probably considering about a 200 mile stretch!?! but might be worth the family checking into...
check my diary for other helpful tips and links (the 2 entries after the one about Timber )
I will post to the Dogster Lost and Found Groups I'm in and cross post to some off-Dogster friends who may have contacts in that area.

Remember Teddi Sue?
she was stolen with her mom's car and missing over 6 long agonizing weeks. eventually, the lady who had TS saw her Missing FLIER and in time decided to do the right thing and return her to her loving family.
Sweetie, wherever you are (on earth or at the Bridge), please be safe, happy, and warm. we still have hope for a family reunion!
