My parents had Kaya put down this morning, Dexter was there too, he wanted to come. I am away at school so I didn't get to say goodbye, but supposedly it went well and she was licking out a jar of peanut butter during the process!
Best dog ever.
Rest in Peace Kaya

A bit off topic but this is an interesting page on Lab mismarks:

http://www.woodhavenlabs.com/mismarks.html

The mosaic dogs look so neat!

Kaya actually has a small black spot in one armpit, and the odd random black fur around her back.

Small Dogs > The Vacuum Cleaner.

Dexter is scared of the vacuum, but he is getting better. The house he grew up in didn't have a vacuum (three large shedding dogs and no vacuum? shock )so he never encountered one until he was one year old. I think the vibration from the beater bar is especailly scary to him. He used to scrabble away from it, tail between his legs and hide the whole time but now he comes closer and keeps an eye on it.
Kaya on the other hand couldn't care less, you can even vacuum her (not with the beater bar of course) and get rid of some fur before it has a chance to hit the floor.
Dexter looks at Kaya like eek "Kaya there's a monster attacking you! Don't just sit there!?!"

Hmm well there's a Portuguese Water Dog that lives on our street, there used to be an Old English Sheepdog near us, two Leonbergers, two Landseer Newfies, a Wheaten, Giant Shnauzer, Irish Wolfhound, Rhodesian Ridgeback, Mini Bull Terrier, Mastiff, Great Pyrenees, English Setter, Puli (in full coat! We were eating lunch in the park and a mop walked by!) Samoyed, Vizsla... I'm sure there's more.

Okay so some of these aren't really "rare" but it was neat to see them. big grin

I have just finished my first week as a co-op student at a vet (so cool! big grin ) so now I know what happens during a neuter surgery pretty up close and personal.
I wouldn't worry too much about it, the vets do so many spay and neuter surgeries and it's quite a simple procedure. Especially for young boys like yours, I'm sure they'll do great. The male neuter surgery is even less invasive than the spay, though both are pretty quick. Good luck!
P.S. Aww your dogs are cute, I love their names!
