I got a thing in- my mouth! |
| Barked: Thu Jan 3, '08 5:09pm PST | | | | | With my god he ahs learned heel positiona dn to watch me so when we jog I don't even have to look at him or talk to him. He adjusts his speed and makes his own turns.
If you have to make an emergancy turn, stop, or you drift into the dog a little they should move themself.
I would work more on eye contact, hind end awareness, etc.

I got a thing in- my mouth! |
| Barked: Thu Jan 3, '08 5:05pm PST | | | | | It al depends on the environmental stimuli, the dogs reaction, and the dogs body language.
For example, Crash is an unconfident guy. When guests come over he grabs the nearest thing he can find to stuff in his mouth, he then proces to bite down on it as hard as possible, then he wiggles constantly while guests try to pet him and talk to him.
If you do not know anything about dog behavior you think my dog is excited or hyper. He is actually stressed and trying to work through it.
So yes I do to a certain extent agree.

I got a thing in- my mouth! |
| Barked: Mon Dec 31, '07 7:41pm PST | | | | | There are many studies out there on this behavior and the effects of desensitiztion and the effects of over the counter drugs such as melatonin.
If it were my dog I would be doing a bunch of research and contacting a vet and/or a vet behaviorist.

They haltis have that extra clip to the collar for added security becuse dogs slip out of haltis so easily that they needed it. I would reccomend a gentle leader any day over a halti but not for this shy sensitive dog.
A martingale or a senseation would be my professional choice
