Rescue, Adoption & Happy Endings > New rescue in central PA!
Dreamy

Queen of my- castle.

Hi all! I just wanted to spread the word about a newer rescue here in central PA. I've been volunteering at Mending Hearts Animal rescue for over a month now and they are just the most amazing group of people out there. It's basically run by a couple of friends and a bunch of volunteers. They are still small but do everything in their power to help any in need. I wanted to do something for them as I'm moving in a couple weeks out of the area and will no longer be able to volunteer there. Please look them up and if you're in this area, they always need volunteers or people looking to adopt.

Grooming > tear stains?

I'm sure this has been asked and answered numerous times but is there a simple, at home solution for getting rid of tear stains? I'm pretty sure Sparkles' stains started up with her diet and allergies but I'm pretty sure I've got that under control now. I just need to fade out and eliminate the remaining stains.

Thanks smile I know they're going to love it up there with more space and room to actually run and play. Rocky is going to love the fireplace lol. It's just the change that's making me nervous along with the confusion of packing, moving, and unpacking everything. I may be more stressed then they will be lol.

Dog Health > Hernia?

She made it through her surgery well and is back home. She's feeling pretty good and the roughest thing is keeping her calm. She keeps wanting to jump up on the couch and stuff. It makes me cringe every time I don't get to her first. Hopefully we can keep her under control long enough for her to heal without hurting herself.

Behavior & Training > moving-how to make the transition smoother

Sparkles

Hi all! After about 9 years of living in a tiny little house in the city with almost no yard, we are moving! Our new house is up the mountain on 1.3 acres bordering many many acres of woods and state game lands. All of my fur kin have always lived here. How do I make this change less stressful for them? Sparkles is strange and fearful of new places. Dreamy and Rocky should be ok, just a bit confused. I do worry a little that Dreamy may mark the new territory. And Monro (the cat), I have no idea how he'll react. We do not have access to the area right now as the current owners do still live there so taking the dogs up there to "visit" is out of the question. Any advice?

Dog Health > Hernia?

Well, the vet says that is an umbilical hernia and needs to be removed. He was very surprised that it didn't show up until recently and that she's already been spayed and everything. She goes in Monday morning for surgery. Hopefully all goes smoothly. We're moving in three weeks. I'd like for her to be healed up and healthy before we get the big yard to run and play in lol.

I set up an appointment for tomorrow. That'd be nice if it's just scar tissue but it wasn't there before the other day and I can massage it back inside. I'll let you know what they tell me tomorrow. Fingers crossed for either a simple explanation or a quick easy fix.

I just noticed last night a small bump on Sparkles belly right where her spray was. It's not large and can be easy massaged back in. Does this sound like a hernia to you? Anybody have experience with this or know what it costs to have corrected? Or even if it needs to be corrected? Thanks

Food & Nutrition > Good grain free no poultry food?

Sparkles

Sparkles has poultry, egg and grain allergies also. We are on a rotation between nature's variety instinct salmon meal formula and wellness core ocean. Both are excellent, grain free foods and not as expensive as Orijen (though I would feed that if we could). Her allergy issues have really subsided though she still gets an occasional ear infection which I blame on seasonal allergies. She no longer scratches her face like she used to our bites at her paws like before.

Food & Nutrition > Grain free and hungry all the time

I like adding pumpkin to their food every now and then for a little extra and it seems to satisfy them. And They Love It. Just take an ice cube tray and full it with canned pumpkin and put it in the freezer. Then you'll Have perfect sized Little chives To pop out and put in their dishes. All my pups are on nature's variety instinct also. When we first switched, they seemed hungry too and lost weight but it's faded out now. They are more toned now and obviously healthier than ever. Good luck.
