MAZY'S SURGERY AND UPDATE OF SURGERY
Mazy's Grandma here.
Mazy went to her Fur Doc this morning about
8 a.m. She is having a fatty tumor on her chest
removed. It was aspirated last spring to see what
the cells were. Nothing showed up but fatty cells.
It was the size of Gma's little fingernail last spring.
It is now the size of a quarter and thick. It's rapid
growth has been contributed to by her going under a
rocking chair to her cave. Her chest has been rubbing
on the growth. While asleep they are going to check
her teeth for us. Clean if necessary. We brush them
regularly and give her dental bones every week. As
hard as we try,we have trouble reaching the last
4 molars. We think this is due to her overbite.
She enjoyed her ride to town as it was 34 degrees.
Curled up in the sit and snuggled into her blanket.
She has the butt warmer toasting her too.
Upon arrival at the clinic, poor baby began to shake
like a leaf.
Fur Doc had me put her into a metal kennel. She tried
to jump into my arms. Just broke my heart! She didn't
and wasn't crying when I left.
It must be small animal day. 2 other small pups there for
procedures. 1 with a hip issue, another with a lip growth.
I always worry about anesthesia and coming out of it.
The smaller the animal the more I worry about it.
There is a shot they can give to wake them up.
I did this when she was spayed and had impacted
baby canines removed.
I suppose part of the concern is previous lap
baby who was sensitive to anesthesia. Grandma
here is also one who netters another universe!
They now give me those shots too....
The clinic will call as soon as she is awake
and vitals are normal. We will go and bring her home.
I can see to her needs better than anyone.
I want her monitored closely. The big thing is to
keep her from jumping for a week. So this can heal
and not tear the stitches out.
She hasn't been in a crate in over 4 yrs. but it is cleaned.
Made comfortable and will be used if necessary.
Hoping she will be happy in her new bed in the kitchen.
There is a gate to keep her from accessing the
living room or bedroom. She jumps to sit on the
chair and loveseat. The sunshine and looking outside.
Late tonight or in the morning the weather heads
to the deep freeze.
It was 38-40 for several days. By Saturday it
will be sub-zero. Snow is predicted. There wasn't
any wind earlier. The wind has moved in and it is
only a little after 10 a.m. The big trees and bushes
are rocking and rolling.
If you could keep us in your thoughts, we appreciate it.
We will update and let our pals know how things are going
as soon as we can.
UPDATE ON MAZY 3:30 P.M.
We were able to bring Mazy home about noon. She is resting in her bed in the kitchen. Of course wanting out of the kitchen...Her cave is blocked with cardboard.Keeping her away from areas of where she would climb furniture to see outside.
She did eat some kibble and a little chopped turkey. She hasn't drank any water. My biggest concern right now.
She did a large pee this morning before going. She hasn't peed since. She did poop, but it was very loose and stinky! I think the anesthesia and other medication going through her system. She has a big mesh stretchy over the trunk of her body. Holding the bandage on her chest in place. She isn't wild about this but needs to stay on several days.
We have pain meds for her but are waiting until tonight to give her any. They did give some while she was asleep. So hopefully she will sleep through the night. We will update as we can.
Grandma's Dad is in the hospital with another episode of congestive heart failure. Prayers are appreciated. Hard being 1000 miles away.
thank YOU FOR YOUR PRAYERS,
GRANDMA KEDA AND MAZY
