Do You" Seatbelt In" your Kennel??

When you go for a car ride do you strap the seatbelt around your carrier??

I don't go in my carrier red facered face If it's me and Maggie, we ride in the cargo area (mom has a thing up so we can't jump seats). If it's just me, I ride in the passenger seat.

I know, I know... it's not the safest. We are well behaved in the car and it's pretty safe on the roads mom travels with us.

No crates for us either. heck usually I'm sitting on daddys lap or in the back seat snoozin when we is riding in da car. I know in da big city they want you crated and all but honestly we can drive 10 miles and not see a single car at times...other times when its considered real busy around us we might see 5 or 6 cars in those 10 miles.

No crate for us either - we have carseats and those have straps to keep us in the seats and safe if mom crashes.

If we do have to be in a crate in the car, then YES mom straps it in with a seatbelt.

Sadly it's not safe when we drive to granny's. I don't go in a kennel. I'm strapped into a dog seatbelt and onto the human belt with mom. Halo is kenneled. Mom straps it into the human seatbelt, but she just isn't sure if it helps or if it's better just to put Halos kennel on the floor.shrug

I don't think this is a proven fact - just mom's opinion - but she thinks it's better to have them strapped in. If you were in a crash, it would keep the kennel nice and secure. And secure is better cause we don't want to get thrown around inside the car - or worse - thrown out of the car.

My mom will keep strapping the kennels down then.

I know a couple of dog seatbelts had testing done, but I don't know about many kennel companies doing trial tests. The only one I can think of is Sleepypod. Not sure about Petflys. Halo has my old Petflys carrier. Maybe mom will have to buy her a Sleepypod one day. Halo doesn't like seatbelts.

I love seatbelts and carseats. I'm opposite of my sisters. But if I ride with Tink I have to have a kennel or she gets all worked up, same with Halo. When I ride by myself I go in my carseat and seatbelt.

Maybe they are jealous. Bol! Or maybe they just don't want me in the car with them.

My mom definitely thinks Tink is jealous of Halo a lot! With me, I think Tink and Halo just don't like me, and they don't want me in their pack.
