((IM NEW HERE PLEASE BARE WITH ME)))

hi there my name is shirley gonzalez age 33, i own a 3.7 pound tea cup yorkie name BiBi, and i am currently seeking vet checks at brooklyn @ Williamsburg Animal Clinic, there web site is http://www.williamsburgvetny.com
last week i noticed bibi wasnt letting her left leg go down but would
then walk normal but it was on and off for 2 days so i took her to the
vet, they check her out and cam back and told me she might have
(MEDICAL PATELLA LUXATION) because she is a small breed or maybe she
jumped form somewhere and she was put on (RIMADYL CARPROFEN) 25mg. and i was told to wait till monday which is tomm. april 25th, if she was still he same which she is & she got even worse now to bring her in then to do xrays which might cost me 300.00 =/ and depending on what the x-ray reveals if she needs surgery it will round out to 3000.00! right now im not working, i was on unemployment but i no longer do, i got no where to turn to, i have a 16years old child and its very hard right now as i did get laid off of work last year and ive work off the book on and off but it goes towards my rent and bills! i dont know what to do i was suggest by a vet online which i paid 18.00 to check a few website that might be able to help me. below is a copy of the convo i had with online DR.K...please if there is any help i can get help me out! i reside at brooklyn ny 11206...thanks =/

Dr. K :
Hello,
Dr. K :
Unfortunately, it is not surprising that you got denied for insurance,
as Bibi has a pre-existing condition.
Dr. K :
No insurance company would now agree to cover her for this.
Dr. K :
There are things that you can do:
Dr. K :
If finances are of concern in this case, there are many organizations
that exist to help with this. I am listing some of them here for you to
contact and see how they might assist you.

American Animal Hospital Association
?http://www.aahahelpingpets.org/home ?" Through the AAHA Helping Pets
Fund, veterinary care is possible for sick or injured pets even if they
have been abandoned or if their owner is experiencing financial
hardship."

Angels 4 Animals ?http://www.angels4animals.org/ ?"Our services range
from financial aid to complete treatment ?to those pets and pet owners
in need."

Care Credit ?http://www.carecredit.com/ ?A credit card company for
health care, including veterinary care. ?"With a comprehensive range of
plan options, for treatment or procedure fees from $1 to over $25,000,
we offer a plan and a low monthly payment to fit comfortably into
almost every budget."

Feline Veterinary Emergency Assistance (FVEAP)
?http://www.fveap.org/sys-tmpl/door/ "Seniors, People with
disabilities, People who have lost their job, Good Samaritans who
rescue a cat or kitten - any of these folks may need financial
assistance to save a beloved companion." The Feline Veterinary
Emergency Assistance Program is a nonprofit 501 (c)(3) organization
that provides financial assistance to cat and kitten guardians who are
unable to afford veterinary services to save their companions when
life-threatening illness or injury strikes.

God's Creatures Ministry ?http://www.all-creatures.org/gcm/help-cf.html
"This fund helps pay for veterinarian bills for those who need help."

??Help-A-Pet ?http://www.help-a-pet.org/home.html "Our efforts focus on
serving the elderly, the disabled, and the working poor."

IMOM ?http://www.imom.org/ "We are dedicated to insure that no
companion animal has to be euthanized simply because their caretaker is
financially challenged."

The Pet Fund ?http://thepetfund.com/ "The Pet Fund is a registered
501(c)3 nonprofit association that provides financial assistance to
owners of domestic animals who need urgent veterinary care."

reymond232 :
im reading what you wrote hol don
Dr. K :
Just ignore the "Feline Veterinary Emergency Assistance" one. That one
clearly won't apply for Bibi since she is a dog.
reymond232 :
i tryed credit care i got denied
reymond232 :
i cant afford 300.00 and dont see why im getting charge 30000 for xrays
Dr. K :
30,000 for Xrays?
reymond232 :
3000.00* sergury and 300 for xrays
reymond232 :
sorry
Dr. K :
$300 for X-rays is not surprising. Nor is the $3000 for surgery.
reymond232 :
after visit her kneck seems stiff and tilting
Dr. K :
This is actually very reasonable for the procedures, equipment and
expertise needed to do these things.
Dr. K :
To do the same for a person...would cost way more.
reymond232 :
yes so i heard its expensive, but is there any easy option for me, i
live in brooklyn
Dr. K :
That surgery alone, for a person, would be in the tens of thousands.
reymond232 :
ok is there anything u think might had cause her to be worse after her
exam at the vet?
Dr. K :
You should contact some of the other organizations that I mentioned.
They may be able to help you with this.
Dr. K :
There is no easy way to get this number down.
Dr. K :
That is unfortunately, the cost of the healthcare.
reymond232 :
i took her in cus of her left left she came out and is now worse as her
kneck titling n stiff, the doc said maybe cus of her exam
Dr. K :
If her neck seems more stiff after the visit, then it could be that her
problems are being caused by a slipped disc in her spinal vertebral
column, in her neck.
Dr. K :
Head tilts can also occur with certain brain lesions.
reymond232 :
which one should i contact first then 2nd =/
Dr. K :
Without being able to examine her myself, it really is hard for me to
say why she is doing this.
reymond232 :
i understand but why after vet visit though?
Dr. K :
I don't think it really matters...I would just go down the list.
reymond232 :
what is the cons with both u mention slipped disc and spinal vertbral?
Dr. K :
Because if the dog was nervous or anxious during the exam, and thus
moved her head and neck suddenly....she could have made her situation
worse with this sudden movement that may have caused increased
infringement on the spinal cord.
Dr. K :
They are the same.....a slipped disk in the spinal vertebral
column...that is one thing.
Dr. K :
The cons are that the surgery to deal with that will be more than $3000.
reymond232 :
thats crazy i was thinking the same i didnt take her for her condition
to worsen up if i knew i wouldnt had taken her in makeing my cost now
more
Dr. K :
Some dogs with this problem will not need surgery, but many do.
Dr. K :
It's just that the exam may have brought out more symptoms...not that
the condition actually worsened from the exam.
reymond232 :
so if i didnt have the money to do it im screwed in much words?
Dr. K :
The doctor didn't cause it...it was already there.
reymond232 :
ok i see
Dr. K :
I wouldn't say you are screwed.
Dr. K :
You need to contact these organizations to see if they will help you.
reymond232 :
i would have to pay in one shot
reymond232 :
ok i will
reymond232 :
ima cop and paste this info
reymond232 :
copy
Dr. K :
You will be able to print the screen.
reymond232 :
thank you
Dr. K :
Be aware also, that if she has medially luxating patella...as you
mentioned earlier...that would not have anything to do with a head tilt.
Dr. K :
This would be a separate problem.
reymond232 :
oh god =/
Dr. K :
The only way that I can tie in leg symptoms and head tilt, is to put
the problem in her neck or head.
reymond232 :
but out of no where i dont understand =/
Dr. K :
I'm just saying...that it might not be medially luxating patella.
reymond232 :
yes i know , im supose to do xray tomm, but 300.00?
Dr. K :
That's how spinal column problems often first appear..."out of nowhere."
reymond232 :
i hear other people saying its under 200.00
Dr. K :
Yes, that is reasonable.
Dr. K :
It depends on the hospital...and how many views they need to take.
Dr. K :
Not all X-rays are the same.
reymond232 :
is spinal column permt.?
Dr. K :
Not necessarily..no.
Dr. K :
Sometimes the dog will heal on its own with medication to decrease
inflammation, and sometimes surgery is necessary.
reymond232 :
as long as she is good after sergury ill do anything, as i type im
crying its hard
Dr. K :
The doctor will be able to discuss the options with you, once they have
a diagnosis.
reymond232 :
thank u so much ok
Dr. K :
I know it's hard.
Dr. K :
I am so sorry that you are going through this.
Dr. K :
I wish you good luck with her!
reymond232 :
thanks doc k
Dr. K :
I hope that she comes through this ok.
Dr. K :
You are very welcome.
Dr. K :

reymond232 :
i hope so toothanks
