It has now been nearly a year since Ranger (aka the Rangeman) lost his left front leg. I was so worried that his quality of life would be affected by this..but LOL surprise! He runs, he plays with other dogs, he even jumps on my very high bed ocasionally. There isn't much he can't do. I'm so relieved. So for anyone that is currently going through this with their dog..there is light at the end of the tunnel!
He's a very happy little guy and I'm so glad that he survived his 3 broken legs..and later amputation! Don't know what I'd do w/o him.
Here's a video of him in our backyard! Rangersmom

So delighted to hear you're doing so well, Ranger! I just sent around an email asking all our members about the ways in which being a tripod has affected their lives. So please share your experiences with us.

Well, how being a tripod has affected my and my familys lives. Some people tend to notice that I have three legs..and oddly enough some people do not, until they've been around me for awhile. I do have a sort of rocking gait at a slow walk, but I can run like the wind! People that meet me usually ask how it happened, which allows my mum to stress that keeping dogs in well maintained, well fenced yards is a wonderful thing, or on a leash so that accidents such as mine can be prevented if possible.
I play with my three pals, Dante 5yrs, Bella 4 yrs and Lady 16yrs (I play very gently with her though). At first, after my surgery my pals were very kind and didn't play hard with me..however, now that I'm well I can enjoy some pretty energetic playing.
We don't take long walks as a general rule, but I have a nice fenced in place to play that I love and have to climb up and down stairs on a regular basis. And my mom takes me to the beach so I can play in the water and meet and greet the kids that play there..I love that.
I don't think that my life has changed very much and my family loves me just the way I am, they really don't have to make any allowances for me. I don't jump up on high things very often, but I only weigh about 60 pounds..and don't mind being picked up to get into the car, etc.
Cheers, Ranger
