Hello fellow dog lovers! Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Jayson, and I have a 12 year-old yellow lab named Cory. He'll be 13 in May! You know what's really amazing about the fact that he's almost 13? He has epilepsy. He started having epileptic seizures when he was about 2 years old. In an effort to keep him from having to go on medications, (which would damage his organs and shorten his life), I was fortunate enough to learn about the importance of feeding a biologically appropriate diet.

I learned from many other owners of epileptic dogs that people had success in controlling the seizures with a raw diet, so I started feeding my dog raw chicken with bones and pureed vegetables when he was 3 years old. His seizures grew less frequent, until they stopped completely about 4 years ago.

My dog has never had any anti-epileptic medications, so I can only attribute his health to the diet. I bought all of the food from the grocery stores and prepared it myself for about 6 years. Then, I discovered a company called Darwin's Natural Pet Food a few years ago, which set me free from all the time it takes to prepare the meals myself. In fact, they are able to get range-free organic meat & produce, which is even better than what I could get at the grocery stores.

In the 9 years of feeding my dog a raw, biologically appropriate diet, I have never experienced any negative effects on him or on any of the humans in our family. At that time (9 years ago) most veterinarians were very negative about feeding raw; I was lucky enough to find one who was supportive. Today many vets have come “on board” with supporting those of us who feed our pets raw food, because the evidence of the benefits to their health is undeniable.
