Tucker, I hope every fur reads that article. You know that thought "It won't happen to me"? But it did--In our friendly neighborhood. To be fair, I will tell you about my visit to the "attackers house". A nice gentleman came to the door. He was surprised because he has invisable fencing. That explans why two dogs ran at Maddie, but only one came out of the yard. BTW it was a Weimeranner and other was older Dalmation. The man said they had just discovered their dogs out of the yard and realized the battery needed to be replaced. He appologized, but didn't show me his dogs? Also, assured a battery had been ordered. I like the umbrella idea better than a bat. I have to TRAIN my husband to love stoopid (owner) dogs, not hurt them.

We had a terrible problem with our corner landscaping. Every dog wanted to use it like a pooch-a-potty. I put cocoa mulch around the plants and a small sign that says mulch can kill dogs. Most dogs are pulled out quickly.

I'm glad you confronted the owner Maddie Mae. It probably was an accident. Once my mom found two little Jack Russel Terrorists running loose. They had the electronic collars on. Nearby where she found them, she saw a house with a sign for the electric fence. She carried the doggies home and nobody was home. She walked around the house and saw a screened porch that had two red plaid beds in it. She put the JRT in the screened porch and closed the door. That's all she could think to do.

Good idea about the cocoa mulch!way to go

oh I don't want to sound mean but the cocoa mulch even though will deter an owner what about a poor stray that happens to wander by...Maybe instead of the cocoa mulch you could put regular mulch with moth balls to repel the dogs..but leave the sign so that owners think its toxic...
