At the dog park the other night, a daschund owner was telling us that his poor 8-yr-old dog was having terrible back pain. He went to two vets and both recommended $5,000 surgery, which this owner couldn't afford. As a last resort, he took his dog to a holistic vet, who made a housecall and performed accupuncture on the dog all for $500. Owner claims his dog feels better than ever and you'd never know there was a back problem.

Anyone ever try a holistic vet? If so, share your experiences with us, please!

I haven't had any experience personally, but I know two people who take their dogs to a canine accupuncturist and are having great results in controlling arthritis. They swear by it. Both dogs move much better after treatment. I believe they go every 4-6 weeks. I don't know of anyone who has turned to accupuncture for their dogs for any other reason, though...but I'm sure there are many other ailments that could be helped by it.
