Hi everyone! Hope we all had a great summer and are ready for some cooler temps and happy trail/yard hunting with our favorite Papillon pals. I'm going to continue to use Frontline through November since ticks remain active here the minute it is above 50 degrees. How about all of you? When do you stop applying flea/tick medication?

Well is hard for me because I work at a vet clinic and during the winter months seem to groom dogs that are badly infested with fleas so thats what I bring home.confused Im going to keep them on their revolution till december maybe. If I have a bad flea day come January Ill maybe buy a extra tube. Thats what I did last year. I usually stop end of october but I kept coming home and finding fleas on my scrubs so I ended up rushing back to work freaking out and getting a tube of regular advantage. So Im going to try a little longer this year and see what happens.

We USED to stop using Frontline after the first frost... (usually very late October or early November around here). Last year (2008) we were shocked to find ticks on our Paps in FEBRUARY!

We live in Massachusetts where it's really cold most of the winter... especially January and February! We do have deer in the area, so that's probably where the ticks came from, but... COME ON!!!! FEBRUARY?!! shock How do they manage to survive in winter? (I take the dogs out for a walk and it's so cold I'm ready to come back in after 5 minutes!)

Anyway, now we just stop using it in December and January and then resume again in February. We hate having to put chemicals on them at all, but Lady already has Lyme disease. Fortunately her titre is very low, but we don't want to risk any MORE exposure to it!
