I am looking into getting a large breed dog to help with my mobility. I have a very hard time walking, but don't want to end up in a wheelchair. I currently have a fully trained service dog named Summer that does many things to help me including a diabetic alert, tension pull, retrieval, getting help when I need it, and providing balance help somewhat. Only problem is, she only got to 21 1/2 inches tall and is 55 lbs. I need a dog that is at least 26 inches tall and at least 115 lbs because of my weight so that it doesn't injure the dog to help me and so that I can reach the dog without having to bend over. I am wondering if you have seen any saints as assistance dogs, and how good their nose really is (for diabetic alert reasons) and how it is to train them, and if they can retrieve. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

yes I have seen a Saint as a service dog. Their noses are awesome, they can find a person buried 14 ft under snow so they would have to be. Good Luck! smile
