Hello! Just seeing if anyones Bassador has ear infections like mine. We are regulars at the vet! Also just started having major skin irritation in the ears... Anyone have any tips for how to keep them clean? Seems like I just can't keep up!

Ask your vet for drops. Mine sold me (for the cats) this liquid that you squirt in their ears and then rub it in. It works great (for the cats). My vet is also a holistic vet...

Louann just got over an ear infection. I guess this breed is prone to ear problems and skin problems. I thought she had ear mites, but it was just an infection caused by, who knows. It was a $95 visit for 5 min peak in the ears and drops. I did read that if you let the ear lay flipped up, once in a while, it helps to air it out. I guess with the floppy ears, bassadors are prone to moisture building in the ears, thus causing yeast, or bacterial infections. Flipping the ear so air can get in helps let some moisture out. If is hard to clean the ears. Just put a little olive oil or mineral oil in the ear to loosen up any debris and use cotton balls to try and clean in out. If the dog is constantly shaking or has pain or discomfort while cleaning, then chances are it is time for a vet.

Bonnie has had two ear infections and she is only 1.5 years old. Our vet has been pretty good about giving us prescriptions w/o having to make costly office visits, as long as she has been treated for the problem previously. Bonnie also has had a few urinary tract infections, and both the ear and urinary tract infections have occurred after we have been to the lake and she has been swimming. Nevertheless, I can't take away the joy that she gets from spending time in the water...

audrey gets them quite a bit but i have learned she gets them mostly in the summer when its humid or when shes been in the water. my vet told me she will get them easily because of her big thick floppy ears that trap water in and are not able to dry out...makes sence. i got a ear cleaner that i use every couple weeks, especially after a bath or when shes been in the water. seems to work good.
