extrovert- extraordinaire! |
| Barked: Tue Jul 14, '09 5:39am PST | | | | | | Hi. My 5 mo old fox terrier makes a funny forg/croak noise sometimes, which seems to mean I am tired or I am needy right now. Is this typical?
Also, I have had a hard time with food for him. He is now on a cooked diet, and I am figuring out what he tolerates well. Sardines seem to be a problem. Any one else having digestive issues with their pup? The breeder said she has no problems, so I assume it's just him.
And he grooms himself a lot! so funny to us, he is like a cat, usine his teeth to clean his coat. We had an Airedale and he didn't do this very often at all! Do all your pups do this too?
He loves the water - is this typical of the breed?
Thanks for any replies.

Odd sounds aren't unusual, Cooper is very vocal, but if this sound is combined with eating problems you should see a Vet. I don't think you should be giving Jib anything other than a good brand puppy food at this stage, certainly not sardines. It's summer and I suppose all dogs (and humans) are scratching and itching, but again you should see a Vet. As a matter of fact, most of us probably went from the breeder directly to a Vet. If you need help finding one, let us know about where you live and/or you can find one on Dogster in either "Local Listings" or in forums under "Community". Good luck and keep us posted.

We have done a round of antibiotics, and deworming, and two different high end very good kibble products, but it's the homecooking that seems to have solved the soft stools and diarrhea - so now I am doing just a home cooked diet. I am treating him with Wellness puppy kibble in the hopes that introducing it very slowly will make it work. Coop is a very attractive dog - love your pictures.

Wellness is an excellent brand, Cooper and Jesse James eat it. In fact, Jesse grew up on Wellness kibble. Home cooking...our two fox terriers (Travis & Burleigh) lived on white rice and either ground turkey or lamb. Jib, that should do the trick. By the way, every year at this time Cooper also goes through the scratching and chewing. I'll bet most dogs can say that too.

Also, since we Wires are pink skinned we tend to have allergies. Most of us have allergies at some time or another. I sometimes have to have eye drops & my vet told Mom to use the ones that have an A after the name, such as Visine-A. (The A stands for Allergy.)

We boff have nightmares when we are sleeping & we howl, moan, bark and growl. Mom sez we get loud sometimes.

Natural Balance Duck and Potatoe is a allergy free formula and good quality. Consider seeing a wholistic vet if you still get no where.
