South Lyon, no dogs allowed?

I've noticed more and more signs popping up in the parks in South Lyon, No Dogs Allowed. I can't take my dog to my son's soccer practice or games, concerts or functions at McHattie park, or almost anywhere, apparently. Max is always leashed, well behaved and OF COURSE I clean up after him. What gives? Anyone familiar with the area?
Ironically, they're trying to figure out how to bring more people (and their dollars) into the area. I live here, but I'm going to do my socializing in Ann Arbor, much more dog friendly.
