I might get a puppy Australian Shepherd and I heard a rumor that they stink and are very destructive. Is that true Australian owners out there? Please give your honest report! Thank-you for the info.dancing

Not at all, they are fantastic dogs and very smart. My dog, Cinder goes to obedience classes and has her CGC. She has a great temperment, kind and very loving. Who ever told you that is way off base, they must not know anything about Aussies.

An important add here is they are great WITH the right amount of excersize, attention, and work. Aussies are working dogs and need a purpose/job and plenty of running. My aussie works on the golf course with me in the mornings clearing geese, critters, and following me in the cart smile. They are insanley loyal, and can be absolutely wonderful, for the right person.

Like Cinder stated, I don't know who told you that but as puppies they are no more distructive that any other breed puppy. A couple things about Aussies. They are high energy, bore easily and loyal beyond reproach. If your looking for a lap dog than an Aussie is not for you, although my Tucker loves to be in my lap watching TV with me. But if you want a loyal companion that is forever by your side then an Aussie is for you.
Go to this site and it will tell you everything you want to know about the aussies.

I like to add that unlike most breeds, Aussies don't smell. Not sure why though.

Aussies do not stink, just the opposite..there thick long coat is easily groomable and I have never had any odors. as far as destructive..they can be if you ignore them......keep them busy, take them to parks, beach walks and keep them socialized and they will be good dogs, however if you cant keep them busy i certainly would consider another breed!!! let them meet as many people they can while there young, an unsocialized aussie can be an agressive aussie...simply put an aussie needs an active outdoor type family...a couch potato or home body just want make a good aussie. hope this helps
