I have 3 dogs and they were so badly infested with fleas it was out of control. Kia my oldest dog was eating all the fur off her back. I took them into the vet and he suggested I try something new on the market called comfortis. It is a once a month pill for fleas. I WAS AMAZED!! within 4 hours mostly all the fleas were gone and within 1 day they were all gone that was 5 months ago and I havent had any fleas!! This stuff is truely amazing. Please talk to your vet about it. It was a miracle pill for me and my doggies. xo

I had to change from frontline last year, after my boxer started showing signs of an allergic reaction to it. I wasn't exactly happy with the frontline anyhow because of the mess it made on the dogs fur. I switched to comfortis and really liked it. But out of 5 dogs, the boxer has started to not like chewing it up, acts like its distasteful. I,m thinking of trying this new 6 month shot for heartworms coz the vet says its not supposed to do a thing for fleas but all his customers on it have reported back that their animals have absolutely no fleas since being on it. And, it would be fantastic to not have to remember that once a month chew pill, and heartwormer for 5 dogs

My vet recommended Comfortis to and I bought it for Nikki who is so allergic to the flea bit and then when I read the cautions it said to discuss it with your vet if your dog was on seizure meds or had ever had seizures. Well, Nikki is on Phenobarbital and has been for many years for mini seizures. The bottom line is on this stuff, it has not been on the market long enough for them to know what the long term effect will be on our dogs and their internal organs. I have decided to try to go as all natural as I can. Nikki is 10 years old and I want to keep her around as long as possible. I don't want her miserable with fleas but I don't want to kill her with these meds either.

Gday I have a friend who used a plant that looks like an onion growing and smells like garlic she rubs the leaves on her dog and no fleas. I have some growing and will try it when spotnics due for flea treatment again will let you know if it works as it is all natural perhaps someone out there has heard of it?snoopy

I've heard that fleas are repelled by the smell of eucalyptus leaves and an herb plant called tansy. thinking

@Jaxson: It's nice to get your suggestion.. But I can tell you some other means to get rid of Flea. It is also better if you can use home made citrus oils. Its very easy to make it. First you need to boil the water. Then pour it over sliced, unpeeled lemon. Make small cuts on the lemon’s skin which will help release more juice from the lemon. Now, let the mixture soak overnight. Next morning, you can sponge your pet with the oil. This will kill fleas right away. You can apply it as often as you want.

I assure you that it won’t damage you pet’s skin. So its safe and happy applying.

For some more information, u may have a look here. smile

Anyone using Sentry Natural Defense? I'm having good results with that. I still found fleas with Frontline Plus. What is up with that? shrug

If'n us doggies sleep on beds with real cedar chips in em (ya gotta get your people to look for that in "small animal bedding"), the essence of the cedar oil gets in our fur...and bugs, almost all bugs, hate that stuff.

Cindy said her grandma used to keep her good linen stuff in a cedar chest, and now she understands why...the cedar kept the bugs away.

Makes your coat smell kinda nice too. And it makes a nice scrunchy bed!
