This is my new column for my Devos! Some will be funny, some will be serious, and some will be simply touching Bible verses, but there'll be one for everyday!

Today's Daily Devo...

That Puppy in the Window...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm sure everyone here has been informed at some time or other that 99.9% of dogs from a Pet Store are directly from Puppy Mills. For those of you that DON'T know, the owners of Puppy Mills are greedy, nasty people that keep their breeding dogs in tiny cages, often with other breeding dogs. The cages are filled with urine and phesies and are very unhealthy for the dogs on their own...
With most Puppy Mills, right after the mother can no longer breed, she is euthanized or brought STRAIT to the pound.
Some of you are thinking, "Poor puppy! Let me go and save it from that pet store!" but people highly advise that you don't do that. For one, you'd inherit a puppy that will have HUNDREDS of health problems in the near future and for two, the money that goes towards that puppy is going to go to the puppy mill and support the mean humans that torture the mother of these puppies.
There's countless issues that you'll have with that puppy. Potty training will be hard because of the puppies use to being very dirty. There's WAY too many terrible diseases that they could get from the beginning circumstances...
Now, let's get the message from this... What do we humans do? We look over that puppy because we know that it will have unnecessary trouble and we don't want to pay towards the mother dogs being harmed in any way. What does God do? God pays the VERY VERY high price for our sins, knowing that WE'LL have issues later on. He also knows that he'll be paying and not all will benefit from this payment, like the mother dog...
God payed the price, but those who don't accept won't get a benefit AT ALL! I'll bet he felt a little bad that he was paying the price of all but he knew that not ALL would meet him in Heaven... in fact, some would go to torture just like the mother dog...
Now, this is just a TINY illustration! God didn't pay for a little Puppy at a Pet Store! He payed for YOU! He bought you and he knows that you'll make mistakes along the way, but he did it anyway! He knows that he didn't do it for everyone though he hopes everyone would accept! Do you know him? Do you feel like you need to know him more now?
I'd be glad to help big grin
Our verse...
"Very early on the first day of the week, they came to the tomb when the sun had risen. They were saying to one another, 'Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance of the tomb?' Looking up, they saw that the stone had been rolled away, although it was extremely heavy. Entering the tomb, they saw a young man sitting to the right dressed in a white robe; and they were amazed. And the angel said, 'Do not be amazed; you are looking for Jesus the Nazarine that has been crucified. He is not here, He is risen!' "
Comparing...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Think of a teenage girl or boy today... What did they use their time on not long ago???

Each other
Sports
Fashion
Maybe even some used the Bible as something to privately get away too!

Today they:

Text
Nag their parents
Television
Does anyone use the Bible?

Have they replaced the Bible? Yes, they have.

Do they need answers to things? Do they turn to the Bible? OH! Something quicker! Google...

Is God pleased with this? What do you think? Do you need to turn this around? One person can make a difference. One paw forward is a step closer to change.

As I'm not pleased with some decisions of Barrack Obama, I highly recommend his 'Change' theme that convinced many to vote for him. He doesn't think of 'Change' in the same way I do, but I believe that if even half of Christians had that mindset, there would be a difference. Are you willing to help make a difference?

Can a Flower Make a Difference?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Grandma was in the Hospital this Mother's Day with Alzheimers Disease. She had 3 children back in the day, two boys (one became a pastor) and one daughter. The boys lived as far away as could be, (Unintentionally of course, but it's where God led them both). The daughter, however, lived near to the nursing home that her mother was placed in. Grandpa lived very near to the nursing home. He moved basically without a point because even going back everyday didn't change a thing. His wife didn't know who he was and was in fact fearful of him...
On Mother's Day, he decided to do something special for her. She'd had fake flowers in her room that she admired. She loved them sooo much that her husband sprayed an old perfume on them to make them smell beautiful. The only day that they were allowed to bring in real flowers was Mother's Day. Her husband went out and bought half a dozen roses and a small card with just enough room to write his wife's old favorite Bible verse. The referrence was John 3:16. That verse is widely known to many Christians. The husband was so excited over those red roses being brought into his wife that even when he heard that she was sleeping when he got there it didn't falter anything in him.
The husband laid the flowers on the desk beside her bed. Since she slept on her side, when she woke up they'd be right by her face and she'd smell the real scent of flowers. With that, he left.
The next day, he went back for his regular visit. He walked into the room and his wife was sitting on her bed with her feet dangling off. She was holding the paper with John 3:16 on it and had pulled out one of the roses and had that in one hand. She was crying and reading the verse over and over again. This didn't change much, however, because the next day she did nothing over the verse. All that mattered was the flowers.
God works in lives when we can't see it and does things that we don't expect. Be watching for God's light to shine on you today. I'm sure there's something that He'll do to surprise you at some point!
Just a thought...
~~~~~~~~~~~

Do dogs go to Heaven???

On Earth, I can't IMAGINE living evernity without my dog or cats. There are many people out there who believe the same! What I believe is that God is making a perfect place. There'll be nothing to worry about because animals wouldn't be sent to the Eternal Torture whether they're with us or not. It's also very important to remember that God knows what would be perfect for us and if it's that dogs won't come to heaven, then so be it.

Do you trust that God will always lead you through?? All humans by nature don't always trust, but a quick prayer a few times a day makes a HEAP of a difference!

To hide this person and dog's personal names, the dog is Sparky and the person is Hendrick. These people have given me permission to post this, but to leave their names out.

Sparky was a smart dog. He knew basic to advanced obedience, but one trick that Hendrick just couldn't teach him was to shake paws. Sparky had graduated obediece school without doing paw all the same. Still, Hendrick wanted to keep his pride and decided that he wouldn't rest till Sparky had this trick down.

The next day, Hendrick began work. He started by forcing the dog to give it's paw by gripping it up and saying paw. Then the treat came. After about 5 minutes of doing this, Hendrick noticed that Sparky wasn't paying attention anymore and was being lazy, not listening to a thing.

Hendrick began yelling so that the dog would get the point. He yelled and yelled and yelled. Sensative Sparky began to run and hide or try to stay away from Hendrick. Hendrick got furious and started to throw different objects at him like pencaps or erasers that were on his desk. Think, just because Sparky couldn't learn the trick in the first 10 minutes!

Aren't you glad that God doesn't get frusterated when we don't listen to Him or learn the first time???

Our Breakthrough!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Annie is an escape artist. Ever since we got her at nine months she'd dart out doors and never come when she was called. It would take something really special to make her come. It thrilled me yesterday when she did break-through and come to me right away.
It all happened when my mom and I were going to go somewhere. I was opening the trunk to our car and my mom was going in the back yard to get something. We have a beautiful almost 2 acre backyard and it's completely fenced for Annie's purposes. My mom left the gate open and like usual, Annie bolted out.
A few weeks before this time, I'd started working on recall action with her. If I said, "Here, Annie!" and Annie came then she'd either get lots of praise or a treat. Annie walked out casually of the opened gate which led her right to the cars where I was. She paused when she looked at me, I said in my mind, "Oh, no! We need to leave and I can't chase her around the neighborhood or into the street!" I knew what was best for her, but she thought it was all a game. I reached to grab her strait off because she was in touching distance if I bent down slowly. Annie is smart and is a GRRRREAT learner. She's learned over the 16 months of time all of our techniques to catching her and how we do things. She bolted once more and once she got to the front yard, she turned and looked back. I bent down, motioned for her to come near, and said the magic words, "Here, Annie!" and she jogged over. It was magical to me! My heart was at peace!
I picked her up, took her in, and gave her some cheese because I was so proud. Now, I can use her for more things like potentially taking her on my vacation with me or even letting her off leash sometimes on walks if she keeps this up. Sadly, I know that some day, she'll be that old puppy that bolts out and doesn't come. I'm still celebrating this success today.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Now , let's get our lesson. God knows what's best for us but we still have our mischievous nature. He knows how to train us, but it takes much time, much effort, and much care and kindness. I wouldn't want anyone else to teach me!

Annie doesn't know the dangers of running into the road or after the neighbor's cows. Only I know that. I know what will happen to her and I can see a much bigger picture than she can.

You may think that God's 'messing up' in your life or 'doing something wrong, and you need to help him out' but in reality, he knows way more of what he's doing then you do. There have been many times that I've felt like he doesn't care or that He doesn't feel the same things we feel, but we're all little parts in his perfect plan. Let's remember to just follow what God wants for us today!!!

Reward for Work
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yesterday, I spent most of the day mowing the lawn.... It wasn't fun........
I worked three and a half hours strait and just about fell dead on the swing that we have in our back yard afterwards. I'll admit that I was a bit cranky too, being tired and being bugged by my family members to get it done. I wasn't in the greatest mood.....
God knows what we need, He knows what will make even a little difference in all our lives. This is the small, tiny thing He did to my life yesterday.
As some may know, my dog and cat don't get along. If Annie goes anywhere near Chelsea, Chelsea will hiss and growl. She'll sometimes even chase the dog and try to get her. Annie will whine and whine and whine and eventually she'll bark if it's that bad. They just don't get along unless I help them to get close.
I was laying on the swing looking at the cat and dog chase each other around the deck. They were just another neusance..... I said, "Annie! Leave it, Kitty!!" I knew she understood what I meant because she lowered her nose like she does like she knows she was bad. Chelsea then walked over to Annie and sniffed her rear without Annie even knowing. Now, if you've seen my dog and cat then you know how strange and weird that is, but those that can't see it, just trust me that that's not normal for my pets! Chelsea then lay down by Annie and when Annie turned around she jumped back.
Annie then lay down and army-crawled to Chelsea to just sniff her. Chelsea didn't seem to mind! She's usually so cranky about it and, something clicked in my mind. "Even my cat can jump out of her cranky mood, can't I???" The two then becan to play with paw to paw and a chasing game with the two.
I made my way to the front yard. My neighbor was elderly and I noticed her and walked over to say hi. She has a puppy Bichon` Frise and it's so tiny that she needs her grass to be very short for him, however, her grass was very high. She walked over to me. She had obviously not had her grass cut in almost two weeks!
She asked me, "Were you cutting your lawn?" I answered with yes. "Well, I would've asked you to cut mine, but you look very tired..." In my mood I didn't reply. I just nodded. She then said, "Okay, good to see you!" I said, "Yeah, good to see you too..."
As I was walking home I noticed that she and her handicapped husband got into the car and drove away. This lady was out of work and I felt bad for her. She was a nurse and she was out of work! I went back and got the lawn mower. I would've never done that if God hadn't done something in my life. I know I wouldn't have in our 87 degree weather. Moving to NC, allergy season, mowing my lawn for three and a half hours, I had a nice break inbetween, I just needed to do something small for her!
God has worked in my life in the past month, but it's little things like this that give me an attitude check and make the biggest difference in the over-all. Watch for the little things!
A Lot We Could Learn From the Dogs...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Just think a minute... Think about kids in this day... Teenagers.... Young Adults... Even grown-ups who are stubborn and disobeydient...

Think about how if you tell a dog to come and sit how much faster they'd do it then one of the above!! Why do dogs listen better??? Because they don't get spoiled or pampered as much as children do! Of course, that's only on one side... Some people treat their dogs better then their children and the kids are fine but the dogs are terrible, but that's not the point!

The point is that God wants us to be obedient to Him! If He tells us to do something, we need to be like the dog and either run to him or run to what He as in plan for us, good or bad on our part, because His will is perfect.

Today's Devo....

A Little Miracle
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We'll use Hendrick and Sparky again...
Hendrick worked a temporary job at a Public Library for kids in the city. He lived out in the country, however, so Sparky had much room to play. The biggest problem was, the house was big and there were much funds to pay for poor Hendrick...
He did all he could, but he found himself in a predicament.... He didn't have anymore dog food for Sparky and he needed to feed him. Hendrick went to work like ever and figured he'd get as tiny a bag of dog food as possible.
When he got to work he saw a huge bag of dog food. He didn't think anything of it, though, because there were many organizations that donated to the library. This bag was upsidedown because it had a hole on the bottom.
It was a fifty pound bag!!!!
When Hendrick walked in, his boss said, "Did you see your bag of food??" He answered with a no because he had no clue it was his. "Well, go check again! The only bag of food out there is for you. You're the only one with a dog!" Then Hendrick knew and answered, "Ma'am, my dog is about 10 pounds! That bag of food would last till next year!" His boss said, "Well, I could've taken it for my dogs, but I felt like giving it to you. I can always get another one that size....."
