Hi Everyone,
Sorry for the length of this but I would appreciate any help, Thanks!!

I was wondering if anyone knew of organizations who accept Pit Bull surrenders and are no kill. The only places I have found in the Chicagoland area (i don't care where it is) that will take a pit bull are also kill shelters. I'm asking because my boyfriend and I are in a bit of a predicament.

Long story short, his sister found a puppy and brought it home, decided she couldn't care for it, but didn't want him to be put down (he is a Pit Bull, though I know very little about the rules, I assume that the anti-cruelty society wasn't going to let him hang around forever) so she and their grandmother decided to keep him.

Of course all these decisions were made while he was an adorable puppy. Now he is 70 lbs., very aggressive towards any noise, anyone new, visitors, ect. (or he becomes out of control from fear in new situations, I put him in my car and he cried and peed, it was awful for him) He is not exercised so he rips up their apartment. Unfortunately, my bf's sister is never home to give him attention or take him for walks and the grandmother just ignores him. They both swear they love him but I think if they loved him they would actually take care of him or give him to someone who will. This dog is over 1 and been on a leash twice in his life (they have a small backyard). We would take him, but he bullies our dog and he's too strong for me so it would all be on my boyfriend's shoulders. No one else is going to do anything, so we have to.

The latest is that the dog has killed one of the grandmother's cats. Things are just getting out of hand and I KNOW he could be an amazing dog. He is super affectionate with me. I just have no idea what to do. I would love to find somewhere that would take him and retrain him. We are at a loss. Any help would be greatly appreicated.
