Howloo To All My Wooferriffic Furriends,

I wanted to let you all know that I will again be walking in the 6th Annual "Barks on the Boards" dog walking event benefits the Humane Society of Ocean City, NJ (HSOC). The HSOC is a wuffd erful 501c3 certified, no-kill shelter that continues to function and grow with the help of public support and a full staff of volunteers.

“Barks on the Boards 2009” will take place on May 24th and it is the ONLY day that us furry 4-leggers are allowed to strut our stuff on the boardwalk! This will be my 5th year participating in this pawsome event - it is loads of fun walking on the boards with the smell of the beach tickling my nosey all while helping homeless furries. In past years I’ve even got to meet some fellow Dogsters, and am hoping to meet more this year!

Last year, I raised over $2,000 for the shelter & was named highest individual donor for the 3rd year in a row! I even got an award - a shiny silver plaque wif my name on it – and I had a special presentation ceremony too! Buuuuuut, I never would have been honored like that if it wasn’t for the generosity of my family, friends and most importantly my Dogster pals!

I know times are really tough this year, so I’m reeealy hoping to at least meet (or exceeded) my $2,000 goal like last year , - wif all your help maybe I can do it again! Can you imagine how much I could raise if just all of my pala alone donated just a dollar or 2?!? That’s A LOT of bones that will go a long way to help the puppers and kitties at the HSOC!

So…if anywoof wants to send a few (or a lot…bol!) of bones in my name you can send it directly to the shelter in my name: Jay-Jay, Yorkshire Terrier, Phila. PA (before May 24th!) Make sure you mention that it is for the “Barks on the Boards 2009” event. And hey, if ya can't send any bones don't worry about it! Just bark me some woofs of support to inspire my little legs to keep on walkin'! Any sort of support is welcomed and appreciated!

The Humane Society of Ocean City is a private, non-profit (501)(c)(3) organization located in Ocean City, New Jersey. HSOC operates a "No-Kill" Animal Shelter; a low-cost spay/neuter clinic; and a humane educational center.

Since 1964, HSOC has proudly served Ocean City and surrounding communities in Atlantic and Cape May counties. Our Shelter has rescued and cared for many stray or abandoned pets. HSOC strives to20place its homeless residents into good, loving homes. For unwanted pets, HSOC provides them a safe, clean, and happy home in the Shelter for the rest of their precious lives.
In September 2002, HSOC opened a new building for spay/neutering and humane educational services. The local public is welcome to bring their pets and apply for spay or neuter appointments for affordable fees. The clinic has state-of-the-art medical equipment , staffed by a licensed veterinarian and professional assistants. The educational center holds classes and shelter tours for children and young adults on the proper treatment and dignified respect for all animals. The center is staffed by dedicated volunteer teachers who effectively convey to young minds an understanding and appreciation of pet guardianship.

There are other ways we help pets, as you will learn by reviewing the many areas of our website. And with your financial support and volunteer efforts, we can transform our hopes into realities.

Diggy fanks for twlling Spike what to do (I know how slow Canadians can be sometimes...hehe!)

Spike, a pal already used the online donation form and you can add instruction or a note. So make sure you put in giant letters it's for me!!! Also, if you don't mind, let me know how mamy bones you're sending so I can add it to the tote board. You can just send me a p-mail. Fanks Spikers!
