I have a 13 week old min pin and we have had her since she was 8 weeks old we have crated her since the first day we got her she does fine during the day when we are at work I take my lunch breaks and go home and let her out but she will not sleep in her crate at night. I have tried giving her chew toys, putting a little bit of food in with her everything that I have read that you should do I have pretty much tried to do including leaving her in her crate even if she cries so she doesn't learn that crying means I will come and get her. It wasn't bad at first she would just cry for about 10 mins then eventually fall asleep but its gotten worse, the other night she cried for almost 3 hours straight so I went and got her let her get a couple pieces of food took her outside and she didn't have to potty then I tried putting her back in her crate and she continued to cry for another hour. I make sure she gets plenty of exercise I take her to a park near where I live everyday and walk her for at least an hour , I don't know what else to do. Please Help!!

Let her sleep were she feels safe.. Get her a bed and blanket and put her in your room and she do just fine. Jake loves his beds and blanket and of course his toys. But he sleep with us or in his bed next to ours.

Do you work full time? If you work 8 hours a day and let her out during lunch for the bathroom, and then crate her again at night ~ 8 hours, I guess that's over 16 hours a day to be crated...

We crate trained our minpin too but perhaps during the day you could leave her in a play pen area instead of inside the crate so that she wouldn't feel as if she is crated all the time?

Our minpin slept in her crate until she was over an year old and reliably housebroken. Nowadays she uses her crate when she wants to, which usually means she prefers to sleep in the bedroom with us.
