Howling at bikes and men

Hi all, has anyone else had a problem with their blueticks howling and lunging at men, dogs, bikes etc on walks? Jenny seems to be afraid of some men wearing hats, but also gets upset at men on bikes. She never howls at children or women. I think this is her way of saying that she is afraid or startled and is warning them away, but I'd love to figure out how to get her over it!

Any suggestions?

i don't have a solution, but jethro is also very afraid of bikes and men with deep voices. we've only had him a few weeks so we are just working on keeping him calm around scary things right now. treats and praise when scary thing comes close seems to be helping so far.

sorry i can't be more helpful, except to say that our bluetick is afraid of the same things! let me know how it goes and what works for jenny.

Thanks for your comments, Jethro - at least I know I'm not alone! I have noticed when reading profiles of other blueticks on Dogster that many are fearful and anxious of loud noises, etc. I find it reassuring to see that these are breed issues, and not specific to my dog.
