Poor little Ava (only 3 lbs.) was spayed on Monday and is still very sad. She is sleeping all day, eating very little, drinking very little, and acting depressed. She also had a lot of GI problems right after the spay, which the vet says was probably due to anesthesia. I had her to the vet today, and they say everything is fine, but she seems really uncomfortable and upset to me. Does anyone have any good advice as to what I could do to make her happier, more comfy, and help her bounce back?cry

It's been about 10 days. I was wondering how lil Ava is doing. I also sent you an email. I recommend a heated bed if she doesn't sleep with you and some special home cooked food like plain cooked chicken, ground lamb, beef or some fruit and yogurt (Holly's fav). Holly will be six months soon but we are thinking of waiting until after her first heat which was recommended by her holistic vet.

Ava is all better! A special diet of homecooked rice and chicken helped with her tummy troubles, and lots of rest and careful handling helped with the soreness. She was back to her old self after about a week happy dance

shh After my mom got me spayed all I wanted to do was sleep too. The best thing she did for me was to let me heal slowly and let me get as much rest as I needed after taking my pain meds. Then before I knew it I was so hungry, I forgot what even happen to me.

It was so nice to read your comments on Spaying. Our Little Bella was spayed this morning. We were so nervous for her. When we picked her up this afternoon she was really "out of it". She just sits and stares out to space, then lays down and goes to sleep, sits up and cries a little and goes back to sleep. cry She looks so pitiful. I was glad to read your puppy is back to her normal self! Bella is 4 pounds. It is so hard to have something done to your baby. They are so sweet and trusting. Hope she's back to herself soon, it's hard to see her this way. Glad your little one is feeling good again!
