 | | | | Hi there,
Sorry to hear about your loss. It's never easy, is it? It's been a while since I logged on to Dogster, apologies for the delay in responding.
Whereas I don't have any advice per se, I do have a couple of suggestions.
First off, when we adopted Banjo we were told he was a Shepherd/ Lab-mix. We deduced the Greyhound part because... well, as he grew up it became obvious! You might consider that, in the case of puppies, the mix description may be inaccurate, and Lab seems to be the default descriptor given their easy-going and friendly family dog reputations.
Secondly, if you are located near Brooklyn NY, you might want to check out Sean Casey Animal Rescue, www.scarnyc.org: this is where we got Banjo, whose parents were feral, from. Apparently there is a pack of feral Shepherd-Greyhound-mixes in Brooklyn, at least, I have been told this by multiple strangers.
Finally, check out a Greyhound rescue group. Many groups specialise in particular breeds, and retired racing Greyhounds often need to be rehomed. In my (limited) experience, I've noticed that purebred groups will often shelter mixes of the breed.
Hope that helps - let us know how you get on, and good luck! | | | | |
