	There is a book by Sinclair Lewis called "Ann Vickers," it was written in 1933 and Daddy has an original copy of it. I don't know if any of you have ever found themselves totally unable to finish a book or not, but he met his match in this one; not that it wasn't good, it was; it was just so convoluted that he felt like he was trying to read greek with no knowledge of the language. Maybe he'll try again someday..........maybe. Have any of you read it or heard of it? Have you ever been stared down by a book? We're so embarrassed.

	Mother had a very hard time getting through Of Human Bondage. (She was reading through the "classics".) The first half of the book was pretty boring, though she very much enjoyed the second half. We have been there.

	Daddy read Stephen King's "Pet Semetary" years ago and it gave him the "creeps." Anyone of you guys and gals ever been scared by a book or story you've read?

	That one IS scary! Ma was scared reading Stephen King's The Mist (imagine that...) at work! She was sitting in her lunch room in the middle of the day and she was SCARED! By the way, the movie was not even CLOSE to being as good as the book. Movie was lame-o.

	Speaking of Stephen King...Mommy has been trying to get through his new book of short stories "Just After Sunset" and it is so difficult! She is a huge SK fan, reads all of his stuff, but this time...ugh! Also, she is reading Wally Lamb's "The Hour I First Believed" it is dragging out too, so she put it down and picked up "Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister" by Gregory McGuire and it is so much better! Such a fun book to read!

	That sounds like a fun one, Spike! Ma loves Stephen King, too, but hasn't found that book yet. We aren't too big on the short stories, anyway. She is itching to get her hands back on the Gunslinger series!

	Yeah, some of Stephen King's books don't seem to translate to the big screen too well do they. Pet Semetary being a BIG disappointment. Oh!!! How about It? Daddy never read the book but he loved the mini-series except for the end; a giant spider?! Please! And can you believe he actually threw the manuscript of "Carrie" in a trash can until his wife made him take it back out. Good move, Tabitha.

	I think he was feeling really down about his writing and thinking that he would never really amount to anything. Guess he was proven wrong on that count. Here's a question that might be kinda hard to answer so I'll amend it before I even state it. Does amyone have a favorite book or movie, or just one of your all time favorites? One of Daddy's favorite books is "The Dark Garden" By Mignon G. Eberhard, it's a mystery from the 40's. And as for movies..........well, he loves "The Song Of Bernedette", about the young girl who helped to create Lourdes in France and became a Saint after her death.
