Hi Group,

Has anyone any experience using this drug for their immune mediated dog? I have done some research on it and have a script arriving this week for Lola. Just wondering if anyone has an opinion or experience. I have talked to a pharmacist in Fl. who is compounding it for us. He claims to have 100 dogs that he fills scripts for. It is interesting since it works in the brain to block opioid receptors during the night. When you wake up it wears off and the brain over produces endorphins, which actually brings up the endorphins and other friendly hormones to a level which modulates the immune system and has it acting like a normal one. It is used for people with MS, Parkinsons, Crohns, lupus and other immue diseases with very good results
Thanks for any comments,

hey Lola. I have heard of this drug. My vet was going to put me on this if my levels did not increase while I was on the predisone. But they went up so he didnt need to put me on it, but he told me it was a good medicine as well.

Hi everyone,

We hope all is well. Just to update you on using LDN for Lola's (suspected) immune mediated brain disorder. I started her on it on Feb. 15. In late summer last year she began having leg twitches along with her other neuro symptoms. Eventually it involved all of her legs, when she was at rest. After four days on LDN they have gone awayway to go The biggest improvement besides the leg twitches is that her temperament is back to normal. She is very calm and not going crazy at every little thing that arouses her. Her other symptoms show a slight improvement but nothing to get excited about. The main thing is that hopefully LDN will stop or at least slow the progression. So far she is doing great. It was a leap of faith for me to start her on it since it's claim is to stimulate the immune system, yikes, that is what we always think we don't want to do. But I think if people with immune disorders take this then it is worth exploring for the dog. So far she has had no side effects other than her improved mood.
