Hi Rusty! My mom was a purebred german shepherd and my dad was a purebred malamute. I take after my mom. lol. Well, my owner has a relative with a german shepherd...purebred. Well he's really old but he's scratching all the time and his hair is falling out. I read about the shampoo drying in their fur and them getting heat spots someone wrote...I wander if that's it..... well anyway are u all purebred german shepherds?? big grin

I get a bath every couple of months. If it's real cold outside less but always one for Christmas and birthdays. Mommy uses a very concentrated groomers shampoo that she buys from pet catalogs, like 7-1, 7 parts water to 1 part shampoo. We all smell real nice and have the same scent. Basically I get a bath when I need it.

Welcome, I am also new here too! My mommy got me three months ago and she purchased Pet Smart's brand mint and tea tree anti itch shampoo. My Mommy plans on bathing 3 times per year and since my first bath all is okay. If I get a little dirty somewhere ....like my paws or legs my mommy will take a tiny bit of shampoo on a wash cloth and dip in water to spot clean. I also get brushed every other day...this helps with the dry skin. blue dog

Hey, I'm Rosie, a 2 1/2 yr old black and tan german shepherd. I love to play ball but I am afraid of brooms, vacuums or anything realted to household cleaning that makes noise and moves. I love going for long walks in the morning with my owner at 530am(lol) . happy dancehamster dancecheerdancingwavewavewaveapplauseblue dog

wave Rusty,
I get hot spots -or something similar. We are not sure why confused but I usually get them when I am in heat or in the crate for long periods of time. That's why my parents don't crate me unless it is necessary. Momma says I get neurotic and then self distructive when bored red face. I have to wear a cone around my head to heal red face because I just don't want to. I'd rather chew all my hair off. Last time I got one Momma had to shave my whole body to treat them...even my beautiful tail cry. So, my advice is try your best to prevent those nasty hot spots any way you can. way to go

Hi Rusty I'm Duke!
My Dam was a Silver Sable German Shepherd and my Sire was a pure white King Shepherd so I am a beautiful but BIG Boy. Momma does bath me about 4-5 times a year but she thinks she should do it more often because I am always a mess 'cause I am mostly white where I touch the ground. She washes my paws and legs much more --BOL!
Nice to Meet ya, Rusty. Hopefully our families will become great friends here on Dogster. Also if you like to cause trouble I'm your main pup. I love mischief and I'm a master at getting outta trouble with my southern charm.
