Since I have had my aussie I have always kept him on a leash except for fenced in areas. Sometimes this can get annoying on runs when he decides to run around a tree.

So last night I took him out with my German Shepherd that never uses a leash to maybe train him to stay in my site. He did alright, though like almost all aussies he took off running like he was in the Olympics.

After about 15 minutes he settled down after my German showed him how it was done. He can care less about other people walking by. But he loves making new doggie friends.

Has anyone else had the experience of training a aussie to walk/run without a leash?

Well, if anyone does I suggest taking your dog with a dog that already knows how to do it. It is working great.

I'm squeeker obsessed. When mommy takes me for runs or off trail running she brings squeeky ball. I stay pretty close in front of mom but if I get two far or we start to approach other people/animals she squeek and I come running. I'm pretty good when she says come but I will definetly, for certain come if I hear squeeky. (Any squeeky will work.)
