Times are hard for many families due to the economy. As a result, basset hounds among many other dog breeds as well as mixes are ending up in shelters where they are at risk of being put down due to lack of space and most all rescues are past full.
Please if you are considering adding a new pet to your home, consider a rescued hound.
Basset Hound Rescue of Alabama just took in a mama basset who had a litter of 8 puppies on November 2. Those puppies will be ready for adoption once they are spayed and neutered, vaccinated, etc. We hope this will be around the first of the coming year.
Along with those pups and their mom, we also have 10 more bassets in need of foster or forever homes. Without foster homes, we cannot rescue another hound.
This breaks the administrator's heart as she has worked in the back room of two different shelters and knows what goes on.
Please consider fostering or adoption from your local basset hound rescue.
If you like other breeds as well, there are all kinds of breed rescues that need your help.
Without YOU, many dogs of all breeds are put down daily in all shelters.
Just one shelter in the Birmingham, Alabama area puts down 400-800 pets per month. That is just one shelter among many in just the state of Alabama alone. So regardless of your breed of choice, spay and neuter your pets.
