Eating Everything in Sight

If you're not- going to eat- that I will!

I'm having a hard time with Odin running away from me and eating everything in the yard from wood chips, dirt, dried weeds,trash even his own poop. We also have an Oak tree and i've caught him snacking on acorns which i hear are highly toxic.
An example would be tonight. I took Odin and Sadie out in the yard so they could do potty and then Odin took off gobbling up everything on the ground and ran away into the back yard. He would not let me catch him so i tried the call him and run away scheme. Didn't work. So i just left him out side and then maybe in 15 mintues check on him and he came right back to me. Of course i gave him lots of praises for coming to me but this is beginning to drive my family mad.
I was wondering if any other Mal moms have had this problem and would care to share their advice.
